Does Destiny feel like an MMO, really?

I won't lie, I enjoy the game. Despite the occasional bouts of boredom at the same stuff again and again... I keep coming back to it. There's nothing greater than finding a new team to play with or mowing down aliens with your friends. In fact, one of my fondest nights was actually doing the Vault of Glass with some American fellows. We were all laughing, I was 'Givin' it all she's got Cap'n' with the relic at the Templar (I'm Scottish) and we just got on. Aside from the occasional raids, strikes... I rarely venture onto PvP to get bored of the 'random' map selection. I wouldn't say I'm a great PvP player... I've had my share of good games like any frequent gamer with a taste for a good shooter. I hold my own with the odd 'that never happened' game. Though, everything combined... I can't help feeling that the MMO aspect of the game, which is what Bungie pushed for, isn't really here. Granted, the endless grind, the RNG system... Elements exist but this game feels lost. Most MMOs inject new content in every month, every few months. Granted, at the price of a possible subscription - costs likely cover themselves to have a bigger developer team, a bigger staff headcount. Instead, we are getting the quarterly updates similar to a call of duty map pack with a fair to average amount of content... Destiny, at present, feels like it has ups and downs. I remember the first time I tackled the VoG or Crota. Amazing. - Hats off to Bungie for creating an enjoyable experience with their raids. However, the downs come in the form of 'yeah... What's next? I'm bored now.' I always make time for gaming. A few days a week in and around work, a relationship and so on. For a few hours every few nights (or mammoth sessions at weekends if she's working!!), I still feel this game rewards people with even more time on their hands. Iron Banner - I would love the gear, but as a casual PvP player and (now a less frequent) gamer, I'm not incentivised to go for it. I doubt any parent gamers have the means to achieve the rank 5 gear either. What about the casual players? What about the PvE players? So many good ideas have come out of the forums: - A horde mode. - Defend the tower defence missions - Capture the Flag (PvP) - Character alteration vendors. To name but a few. I can't help but think these could be achievable as drip fed releases to keep the game 'fresh' during the aforementioned down time. If Bungie want an MMO, they just have to make it so. As much as I enjoy Destiny, I still feel like it's my 'shooter for the year' until the next (decent) Call of Duty and so on. Before this gets too long, what would you, the players prefer? Small, frequent content? Large, quarterly content? Other?
