The Executor- Chapter 5

The Executor- Ch. 5 Scruff fired a full clip as he sprinted to the nearest piece of cover. Three acolytes crumbled to the ground before his rifle clicked, signaling an empty mag. He slid the remaining few feet, and crouched behind an ancient, dilapidated car. Scruff slammed a newly synthesized mag into his Vanquisher, and peeked out from his hiding spot. He was now about three-hundred yards from the closest seeder. The Hive were a bustle of activity, they had heard the rounds and seen their fallen comrades. So far, none had pinpointed his exact location, but the massive force had begun taking defensive positions. Scruff began to doubt his decision to take on an invasion single-handedly, but it was too late. There was no waiting for back-up now. The thrall were the first to locate him. He didn't know how their senses worked, but whatever animal instincts drove them had picked up on his hiding place. The titan heard a thrall's screech, followed by a chorus of his brethren. A herd of dozens was headed straight for him. Abandoning cover, he grabbed a spike grenade from his vest and hurled it at the nearest thrall. The grenade punctured the unfortunate creature's chest, and it spun and thrashed about in attempt to dislodge the foreign object. A torrent a searing void-light spouted from the grenade's tip, searing any thrall that ran past their flailing companion. Scruff charged into the newly created gap in the throng of monsters, smashing the face of the closest Hive minion. The thrall dissolved into more void light. This time, the purple energy coated the defender's armor forming a flexible force barrier. Amidst a sea of electric claws stinging his overshield, Scruff pulled the Prestige heavy machine gun from his back mount, and sprayed all eighty-six rounds in a cone directly in front of him, cutting a path through the crowd. The titan took a running leap, activated his back mounted thrusters, and cruised above and away from the surrounding enemies. Scruff angled his rocket-propelled jump to the nearby ruins of of a building. Mid flight, he tossed another spike grenade over his, shoulder, torching a few of the remaining thrall, and preventing any from following. The armored guardian crashed through a large, glass window and into the cover of a nearby building. He was now about one-hundred and eighty yards from the first seeder, and a quick peak out of another window, showed wizards and knights rallying the acolytes into an advancing wave of bony, insect-like, zombies. Crouching low, Scruff quickly checked the ammo reserves for each of his weapons. He had only two clips for the Vanquisher, half a clip for the Prestige, and twelve shells for his Judgement VI shotgun. The odds were stacked against him. "I think I may have bit off more than I could chew, Sweetheart. Maybe we should've called for back-up." Scruff cringed at the thought of having to admit to Lena she was right. "I wanted to be a hero, make a difference in this war, something. Maybe it just wasn't my desti-" He was cut short by a transmission through his comms. "-Welcome back." Only two words, and then the transmission cut out. Sweetheart extracted her light from his armor' systems, and quickly constructed herself. "You're not alone. I'm picking up six light signatures. Below ground. They can only be guardians." Her free floating components spun rapidly. It was obvious she was thinking. "Why the hell would there be guardians out here?" Scruff stood, and shouldered his auto rifle. "I don't really care. Whoever they are, and whatever they're doing, it's got the Hive's attention, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Let's go kick some ass." --------------------------------------------------- Read Ch. 4 Here https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/100625476/0/0
