Actually the expansion will be released in September, it's code name is Comet. House of Wolves is just disc locked content (DLC).

You sir are great dlc is actually download le content. But I know it was a joke to bungie DLC is in bungies case disc locked content
-
You do know that's not what DLC means right? It means downloadable content...
-
Normally yes but both DLC of destiny were already on the disc you purchased. They were cut from the original game to be sold seperately for more profit. Since the content was locked and hidden on the disc we call it disc locked content

So explain to me the purpose of the two 2.9Gb updates immediately prior to the TDB drop? I am well aware of the fact that the bulk of what is on the disc is not in the final game, I am also aware that at least some of the dark below was already present on the disc (most likely because what formed TDB would have been very different in the original Bungie version of the game) but I have never ever heard anyone use the acronym "DLC" to refer to disc locked content because even if this were accurate, there would have been no need in that case for such big updates.

In the past developers have released updates that didn't actually contain anything. MW2 and Resident Evil 5 are two games that had fake downloads.
