Is the traveler the bad guy? Ever thought about that? I mean, he raises people from the dead to fight for him... Seems like that'd be an interesting twist.
We are the bad guys, and the fallen and cabal have chased the Traveler across the galaxies to try and stop this evil force.
Just an idea, don't hate me.

Good and evil are just points of views. I did a whole thread on the Traveler a while ago, so I'll sum up my thoughts. - It used up: It made us into an army so it could survive the Darkness it was running from. It had to sacrifice itself, but only when it was strong enough/when the Darkness was weak enough - It, however, did save us. It's not necessarily our enemy. Without it, we'd be gone. still, there's too much we don't know about it A few questions worth noting for your own thought process are these: 1. Why the Speaker? Who is he? Why does he speak for the Traveler? 2. Is there a middle ground between Light and Darkness? 3. How expansive was the Traveler's army?
-
I often wonder if the speaker is a Guardian selected for the task or if he is some immortal being? The middle ground, let's call it The Gray, is where I think the Awoken try to center themselves. I like to draw a lot of parallels to Lord of the Rings: Speaker is similar to the Mouth of Sauron Awoken are similar to the elves, they try to stay neutral but ultimately may not be able too. Maybe the Awoken come from a distant universe where the traveler once was and ruined themselves by giving all the had to the traveler and ultimately get overwhelmed by the darkness when the traveler leaves, so they follow it and hide in the reef, just on the edge of the traveler's diminished influence.
-
The Speaker is a powerful Warlock from what I can tell. The "middle ground" I was hinting at would probably be the Ahamkaras. The Awoken were once Humans but they were changed by the Traveler's magic.
-
Ahamkaras, dragon-like beings? Drawing from other sources, the mythos around dragons always seems to be that they don't care for the world around them or the machinations therein. They purely seek to prolong their existence and to steer clear of conflict. Provocation however will illicit a strong and forceful response from them. From my perspective it seems the Hive may be to the darkness what the guardians are to the Traveler. They are not THE darkness, just minions of it, wielded by it to forge it's will. Even Croata seems to just be another manifestation of the darkness's will.
-
I definitely agree with your notion on the Hive. As for the Ahamkaras, I am still uncertain if they are both/neither Light and Darkness or if they are the actual Darkness.

This is the kind of discussion that nerds like me love. I'd love to pick your brain and toss some theories out there about various destiny topics. Unfortunately I've got to return to work... lame. I'll post back here when work is over. This is awesome, thanks for your time. - AK "May the Light illuminate your Path."
