A lot of the downtime has been due to Xbox Live and PSN issues. Why should Bungie compensate you in game for the console's network issues?

I'm pretty sure it's not xbl. Most everyone that gets disconnected from the game have no issues whatsoever staying connected to xbl. If bungie would stick to fixing big issues like server errors instead of dumb stuff like patching atheon pushes we wouldn't be getting booted for their lack of focus on player connectivity.

How is it a PSN or Microsoft issue when I can play other games without problems on my 360, and the Xbox live status page says everything is up and running? Explain, please I'd like some insight.

There was PSN maintenance the other day and Destiny was down because of it. Xbox Live had some issues yesterday or the day before. Here's some links to a site that tracks issues with both services. My xbox had NO issues yesterday everything was running fine it was bungie at fault. Dont tell me what my xbox said mystic meg!

I never claimed to interpret what your Xbox says to you. I was only commenting on the people I saw yesterday complaining about it not working.

Yes, you could probably complain to them and get a couple free days of service added to your account. This is a good option to seek as you pay those providers for use of their networks. If they don't work then you have full rights to seek compensation from them.
