It is now the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest films ever made.

There are many great films that we see in the cinemas, such as films like Hot Fuzz, The Nightmare Before Christmas, or The Avengers. While it is agreeable that these films are great, no film holds more meaning to me than The Shawshank Redemption. Based on a novella by acclaimed author Stephen King, The Shawshank Redemption tells the story of Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins) who is unjustly convicted of murdering his wife, as well as someone she had been in love with, and is sent to Shawshank Penitentiary for a DOUBLE life sentence. There, he befriends contraband smuggler Ellis "Red" Redding (played by Morgan Freeman), who helps him adapt to the harsh prison life. The prison's warden, Samuel Norton (played by Bob Gunton), eventually enlists the help of Andy, who was a banker on "the outside" (a term used by the inmates for the world outside of the prison), for a money scandal with which he launders his money to different banks across Maine (glug, glug, glug). Andy helps with other things in the prison, including building a library inside the prison and helping guards with money-related problems. That is really all you need to know about the film, if you have not watched it yet. Now we have made it to the year of the film's 20th anniversary, which started on September 23, 2014. Though it may not get a new release (I doubt it will, anyway), it is still something to celebrate. So here on B.net, we will post our memories of when we saw the film, or why we like the film, or just to quote the movie for the fun of it. I know that I like the film because of its themes portrayed throughout, and because it is one of the most realistic films out there (I know, realism doesn't make something better, but it is a good trait to have). With that said, "Get busy livin', or get busy dyin'."
