Destiny is a MMO.
No matter what ever way you look at the game, Destiny is a MMO.
Is it Massive? Yes, there are tons of people in the hub and in the events.
Is it Multiplayer? Yes, that should be a no brainer.
Is it Online? Yes, it forces you to be on the internet just like a normal MMO.
So why do I see people calling it a "Shared World Shooter"?

Actually, bungie themselves called it "a shared world shooter" They didn't want to label it as an mmo

Think of it as a peasants MMO.

The difference is in Destiny there isn't 400 people with their character models clipping into eachtoher insta-killing bosses then waiting for it to respawn before doing it again to grind for loot.

The tower only ever has a max of 20 people in it. Same with the open world.

Have you seen how many sub genres there are in music? They call it something different because when you think of MMO you think of World of Warcraft or DC. That type of game. This is different. The Division is not called an MMO but it's practically the same?

Think it's because it's not 'Open World' that people say it isn't an MMO.

I'd argue this is all semantics but that point I would be making would be semantic... and I hate meta.
