If you are concerned about that, I wouldn't advise looking at your phone or PC either. If anything, brightness can be lowered since background light doesn't affect what you are seeing, and via lenses the eyes could actually be more relaxed than they are looking at a flat-panel monitor.

You would have to explain that one to me, besides I thought it was already true that focusing your eyes on something really close to your face makes you near sighted. That's how people who read a lot of books end up needing glasses.

I believe it depends on how long you do it, I don't do gaming sessions for more than 2 hours on end, I also don't read for extreme lengths. My point is that it's no worse than ordinary gaming with a TV.
