Like all MMOs, Destiny is going to be always online so hackers get caught almost instantly.

  • What exactly do you mean by "always online"? Other games' servers are always online so why would an MMO be harder? I don't quite understand so I'm hoping you can help shed some light for me :)

  • In games like a Halo there are millions of servers whereas an MMO has 12-80. They're much easier to monitor and people can report hackers with just one click like on B.net.

  • Oooh okay that makes sense. Well good, I'm a little less worried hackers will ruin Destiny now.

  • It's not an MMO, you play in your own instances by yourself, with a select few of friends, or even random players if you choose; you can come across areas that have a "Social" aspect, whether it's a huge boss fight out in a desert or a marketplace within the wall, bustling with guardians. There totally is MMO aspects, such as emotes and hubs, the customization, even instances, but there won't be 100+ players in the same world. Probably no more than around 24. I'd be surprised to see 64 player servers in a console game like this. Bungie's really bending genres here, and it's awesome.

Yes, and I said that there totally IS MMO aspects. Instances/phases don't make a Massively Multiplayer Online game. ( really, the biggest deciding factor of a genre is what the Devs say it is) Warframe's not an MMO, but it shares some aspects of one. Read Dead Redemption's multiplayer and GTA Online are not MMO's, but certainly shares some things too (more than Warframe lol). Even MAG on the PS3, which sported 256 players in one match wasn't truly considered an MMO. Destiny definitely, absolutely, 110% for sure DOES have MMO mechanics- but it's not an MMO. You're not going to see hundreds upon hundreds of players questing and LFG'ing and Swarming the Auction house and selling overpriced vanity items. From what I've "Seen", you'll run across players every once and awhile, when either you or they enter the same areas. Unless you have a fireteam, you may be alone majority of the time. Even the hub areas might not be as abundant with players as we suspect. Bungie's hybridizing to make the best gaming experience possible, and that's an amazingly good thing! EDIT: But back to OP, I agree with ya'. It will always be online, and Bungie is known for it's no nonsense cheating policies, so hackers will have their work cut out for them.
