Uhh... what happened to Hawken?
[spoiler]tl;dr below for the lazy -blam!-s[/spoiler]
When I first started hearing about this game it was having an epic measuring contest with MWO, and beings I liked the look of MWO over that of Hawken, I picked MWO. I never got around to trying Hawken, but the other day I hopped on MWO for the first time in a while to check out the new UI.
At the beginning of my first match I asked how the game was doing, and eventually someone said that Hawken had -blam!-ed itself.
Now that I was once again aware that Hawken was a thing I looked into it and found that is was moving over to Steam. Considering that Steam is a good thing, I don't really think that this is what that guy was talking about. Can any Hawken players tell me about what happened?
tl;dr: What the hell ever happened to this game?

the only bad things to hawken when they move on steam is the voice chat of the game b4 dt was so good but nw i dont think so!!!

2 AntwortenHawken and Strike Vector need to get cleaned up a little and ported over to consoles. Both would be pretty fun as arcade or free to play models on PSN and XBL. Though what both need to do is show off the best looking Mechs and Vectors. Just showing the crappy starting modes isn't going to sell many to people.

The move to Steam is an effort to reach a wider audience, as the current one isn't that huge. Titanfall has also been a damper on this game, as a lot of people assume "$60 game > F2P".

3 AntwortenI don't know much about Hawken, but I'd like to comment on Hawken's integration with Steam: Hawken was free-to-play (I assume), and one of the strong points about F2P games is that they're convenient. You download, install, play. Sometimes they even play in your browser! Extra convenient. A F2P game requiring Steam isn't convenient at all, but a hassle. I don't use Steam, and if a game requires me to install it I won't be playing it. I'm sure many people who enjoy F2P games feel the same way about Steam integration.
