The courts generally request business casual, but I don't think it's entirely required, but yes, khakis and a polo should be fine. Not sure about the PSP though. I googled it and some courthouses are stricter than others with electronics. Guess your best bet is to call and ask. Or just bring it and see what happens. Up to you.

Well I have to call the courthouse after 5:00 PM today anyways for some unexplained reason.
-
Have you been summoned? Because first, they summon you. They summon a lot of people. Then, you provide a reason why you should or shouldn't do jury duty. Then they pick their jurors from the people without valid excuses.
-
It's just a summons. I'm just gonna tell them I'm biased as Hell and wont be fair.
-
They ask questions when picking to find out who's prejudiced, biased, racist. And you have to call to let them know that you got the summons .
-
But, jury duty could be fun. Especially if they sequester you. And I'm fairly certain thats not a valid reason.
-
What's sequester me? Also, I'm pretty sure it is since they want a fair trial.
-
No, a valid reason would be your child is deathly ill, you have had a vacationed planned for years ahead of time, or you are about to go into surgery. Sequester is when the judge isolates you from all outside contact. They did it with the OJ trial. Of course, in the OJ Simpson Trial they slowly replaced each juror one by one because the trial took forever.

[/quote] I'll tell them I'm not only sick but I am also about to go on vacation on Tuesday that I have been planning for a year now. That's awful, I don't want that at all. -blam!- this I'd rather just eat the fine.

It's really not bad at all. Sequestering isn't that common. It might happen if you get a high profile case. Just don't forget, you need proof of these things. It's not so easy to get out of it, I hear. Why you wouldn't want to is beyond me, though.

Bearbeitet von Gaara444: 11/17/2013 4:44:43 PMI only want to stay the first day cause I have a presentation due tomorrow and I really want to get out of it. But I have no intention of missing class any other days. That's just throwing away money towards an education I'm not getting.

lol Did you even read the juror handbook thing they sent you? You can reschedule the date at least once.... It may be too late for you now, but I'm pretty sure it even says students can reschedule to a day during their breaks. Also, even if you do have to go, I doubt you'll get picked as a juror anyway because you're a young student. I went to jury duty like 3 or 4 years ago (when I was a student) and ended up going all the way to the judge/plantiff/defendant/lawyers deciding whether I specifically should be on the case and was turned down (they don't give a specific reason, but I am sure my age had to do with it). Don't even worry.

They gave me jack shit other than the piece of paper that told me I had to go.
