So I just remembered that on the E3 trailer commentary the lead designers hinted that we could gamble our stuff with other guardians. But I still can't seem to understand how could we gamble it?

I imagine it'll just be glimmer you gamble, or whatever the in-game currency is, rather than weapons etc.
-
I would imagine that you would duel for it and whoever wins gets the loot. That would be nice.

4 AntwortenIn Destiny, I will be a casino owner with shady ties to organized crime. For the average tourist, you will be able to come into my casino and flirt with hot Guardian chicks, get drunk, and gamble your life Glimmer savings. The big fish will even be able to stay in one of my opulent master suites with a Traveler view. But in the background, I'll be extorting Bungie and politicians, approving hits on rival casino owners, and running illegal Glimmer loan scams and real estate fraud. Destiny will be the best game EVER.

Probably some game of chance were you gamble money and the jackpot is a rare item.

3 AntwortenRUSSIAN ROULETTE!!!

7 AntwortenSpectate a PvP arena match; gamble on who will win before it starts up. I think that would add some spice to the drama of competitive multiplayer. It would also give you a chance to become legend. "Oh I recognize MartinOfRedwall. I'm betting on him because I've seen how he can play!"

What about other things like a dance-off or a good old fashioned game of poker?

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von FallingUp39: 8/7/2013 8:24:47 PMHow about a game of caravan from fallout new vegas

1 AntwortenDuh, we'll obviously be going to high-end casinos.
-
You can only win it with Kinect danceoffs.
-
I'd love to do that to get better guns. Or lose them....... Even losing them wouldn't be too bad since I'm a hoarder and would need some way to get cooler new weapons.
-
i rather gamble money than things, in my opinion, i am not oppsed to it its just not my style, and how would it be regulated

A staking system seems most likely honestly, where 2 players put in a pot of items and winner receives everything, either that or a hard death system where you lose all items carried on death in a PvP area.
-
3 Antwortenit is kinda strange since there is no point gambling for a level 10 gun when you level 5 or level 15, unless there is a chest thing you can store your weapons/Armour in till you wanna use it. That is one thing i always wondered about, will it be like rpgs in that we can only carry a certain amount of stuff? or will will get to store them in a kind of armory/chest where we can get them when we need them?
-
8 AntwortenI'm guessing the gambling will be a staking system where you can stake X amount of currency or gear against another player and then battle with that player. Winner will receive the pot. That would make sense to me. I don't really like the idea of betting on other players because of the possibility of fixed matches and stuff.

He does imply that gear/loot itself can be gambled.
She's got some sweet clothes, awesome cape; all customized gear that's either acquired on many adventures, or purchased traded or gambled for.
However, gambling with glimmer (rather than items of a specific tier and variable states of upgrade) would be much more flexible, here's why:
1. Bets with glimmer can be easily raised in increments and split multiple ways. Gear comes in single increments, can't be split at all, and the value of gear winnings are variable and inconsistent. 2. Because of this trait of glimmer, not everyone has to bet, and you can choose to bet on any competitive activity. In contrast, gear of the same particular tier would need to be put up by every member of each team prior to entering into a designated gambling activity or zone. 3. Because of that, by gambling with glimmer you don't limit yourself in the pool of potential matches for any given activity. That keeps the matchups as even as they would normally be, which is important when bets are on the line. In contrast, gambling with gear would limit the pool of potential matches, making lopsided matches more likely. 4. You seem to earn glimmer at a more consistent cadence than gear, so you're less likely to run out of stuff to bet as quickly as with gear.
There is one upside to gambling gear instead of glimmer: the potential to win rare gear that you wouldn't normally be able to purchase with glimmer, that would likely take much longer to earn in other activities. If we can gamble with gear because of all the reasons above it's likely going to be limited to its own playlist/activity, and be for rare and exotic gear only. TL;DR: It's possible that glimmer wagers could be optional across multiple/all competitive activities and certain activities could have rare gear wagers as the price of entry.

Like gambling today only with the possibility of wining loot. But I honestly think that there will be loot for grabs and people will place bets for it.
-
Each player puts up a weapon and then they do a task and who wins gets both
-
it'd be kinda cool if you could pick your means of gambling, like race for the pot, or like a pvp arena, or even a kill contest
-
2 AntwortenStrip poker unless yal be bitches.
-
1 Antwortenimagine the commentator was just joking about gambling lik they were about anti-grav levels and the other two just stayed quiet to troll us...
-
Put it all down on a Sparrow race
-
Could be like Diablo 2 where you know it's "X" Gun, but you don't know what else is attached to the gun, including skill sets.
-
I'm pretty sure they have some games of sort. If you've played Kotor, kind of like Pazzak I would assume.

Russian roulette meets poker meets halo. Daaaaaaaaaaamn

You might be able to wager items on a PVP game. I have no info to back that up, I'm just spitballing here.
