I agree with everything she said. I have AT&T DSL out here in the more or less rural area of Kentucky, and I went up to Time Warner Cable to see if my house would ever get their service and the woman looked at me and said it would be highly unlikely, and its probably because AT&T has some kind of monopoly over this area I live in. Literally all of my neighbors have AT&T as well. We all pay around $30 for internet speeds of around, 5 mbps down and maybe on a good day 0.5mbps up.
Internet in the U.S. is a disaster compared to some other countries.

$30 is pretty good. I pay $100 for 30 down and 5 up.
-
I pay $70 a month for 1MB up and .3 down. On a good day...
-
Dang man! Is that dial up?
-
Sadly it's supposed to be High-Speed DSL...
-
You might be better off with something like clear or a different mobile hotspot.
-
I probably would but this is all we got here. 1Mbps is all we're guaranteed and Uverse is just now being rolled out. I'm only 20 miles from AT&T's founding city as well...

Wow! That's crazy!
-
In the UK I pay about £50 so about $70 for the same as you but that bill includes phone line.
-
^This I pay £55 per month to £65 for phone bills, well my mother does, for 150 Mbps optic fibre broadband and telephone with free evening and weekend calls.
-
I would love to pay $100 for that kind of internet, but I will NEVER have that option to do so. I am stuck with AT&T and their shitty internet (Cause they will never bring U-Verse out here... cheap asses) until I move.

You're probably right. I just bought a house in a brand new hood so I lucked out. Now I just need Google Fiber and we'll be good.
-
Damn man my jelly levels are through the roof right now!
-
Haha. Don't give up hope. I hear google is studying how to deploy a Fiber WiFi network with balloons to reach rural areas.
-
Knowing my luck some random redneck would come by and shoot the balloon down and yell out, "Boh, don't you know we dun like no Google heathens out ere' do ye?!". But, heres to hope. Cheers! *Takes swig of OJ*
