If you don't know what MOBA is, it's Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. Originating from DoTA from Warcraft III nearly 10 years ago, and gaining more popularity in recent years thanks to League of Legends. Essentially, you are pitted in an arena with other players and spawning AI (minions) and seek to push your forces to the enemy base.
Waystone is a new developer and this is their first title. They are adding new elements to a MOBA that haven't been explored yet and it's discussed in the video. I am actually intrigued to see how this game shapes up. It has the core MOBA elements, but they're adding some RTS mechanics to it.

The towers regenerate and lane creeps scale with the number of towers taken out? How innovative... I'm willing to bet it has the conventional click to move and four spells that other DOTA-clones have. I think that comparing the "growth" of MOBAs to shooters is wrong. A better comparison would be MMOs. Medieval fantasy, hard to break into and require a large amount of learning to figure out any of the intermediate mechanics, and all largely share the same gameplay systems. Perhaps eventually they'll get their renaissance, but I'm doubtful.
