This is my main computer.
The 2011 27" iMac.
12 GB of RAM
1 TB HDD
Radeon 6970 HD graphics card
Intel i7 3.4 GHz processor
She's my pride and joy, and the absolute best desktop I could possibly own, bar none.
It's got a gorgeous all-in-one design and a body wrapped in aluminum for durability and remarkable portability. I use it for reading and writing mostly, but the 27" screen is also great for streaming Netflix for my family, sorting through pictures, editing page layouts in Adobe Indesign, and occasional video editing.
I also run Windows 7 on it through Bootcamp, so I can enjoy my games like Skyrim, Planetside 2, StarCraft 2, Crysis 2, Metro 2033, League of Legends, and a laundry list of other games all on highest settings in 1080p. ;)
I can't help but laugh when people mock Macs for gaming... this iMac is the best gaming platform I've ever owned!

Bearbeitet von LOLdragon89: 3/3/2013 6:37:22 PMNot EVER own. Just the best one available right now. The older iMacs are less powerful, and the newer ones have the screen glued into place as opposed to this one where the screen is held in with magnets... and some day I plan on installing an SSD inside the computer, which makes a glued-together machine less desirable. I grew up on Macs, so I've got to have that OS on my computer. And I really like having an all-in-one rather than a tower. I know I could get a much more powerful computer for much less money, but I'd have to either only use Windows, or give up the all-in-one design, which are deal-breakers for me.

-
Well, I already have a Macbook to serve my laptop needs. And I gotta say, having a portable laptop and a heavy-duty desktop is a great setup and I'm never going back to just having one high-end laptop. As for a hackintosh... I suppose I could, but I've never really looked into it very thoroughly. In the future, it's something I may try though. :)

How on Earth did you get a Mac with specs like that? The best Mac I ever saw was 1500 bucks with a 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD...
-
When I got it in 2011, it was the very top-of-the-line iMac you could get. Even the MacPro hadn't been updated since 2008 at that time, so it was also the most powerful Mac you could get. Yeah, it was expensive. VERY expensive. And if I went with a PC I could have had a computer with better specs for a lower price, but then I'd have to use Windows all the time, and I'd probably be stuck with a tower. I move my desktop around a lot, so I need to have an all-in-one.

I don't know why anyone would rather use Mac OSX over Windows :/
-
For me, it's because I grew up on Macs. I'm much more comfortable using Mac OSX than I am using Windows 7. Don't get me wrong, Win 7 is a fine OS and it does some things really well, but I'm not as familiar with it as I am with Mac OSX.

This is bs. Macs don't use 6970's. Ever
