IIRC, they said before that a rework of exotic armor is also planned for later.
Whether that means « better » is unknown though.

Specifically the devs said they were planning to add some mechanism by which Exotic Armor would be able to enjoy the benefits of Tier 5 Armor, which presumably includes the 75 point Stat package, 11 Mod Power and Tuning Mod slot. Unfortunately they stressed that this was a [b]long term[/b] goal for after Edge of Fate, so it may be several months before we see this added to the game. (΄◉◞౪◟◉｀)
