Unfortunately there are no appeals for name moderation actions. Names are moderated by Bungie Staff who have the final say on what names are can be used on their platform.
A name reset to default like that means it was reported, reviewed by Bungie and reset to"Guardian####", that indicates that some part of the name broke the Code of Conduct or the Bungie Name Policy, was filtered, and [b]can no longer be used. When that happens, you get the new name cross play message in-game as notice of the name change.

I just discovered there is in fact a Ban/Restriction Appeal Contact Form and it includes a name appeal as well!
-
That was part of a feature that was abandoned. It will not yield the results you are looking for
-
Name bans are not included. And are final.
-
It literally has a drop down for that specific category.
-
Yes it is included in the forum. But it will be ignored. Bungie has stated several times on the forums that there is no appeals process for name changes.
-
Not going to lie..... I have never seen that before. Must be a recent addition. Well I guess now people have an option. Good luck with that one then.
-
That is extremely unfortunate. I feel like it’s an extremely biased decision due to the simple fact that even in the Forum some of the names are extremely -blam!- in nature or even downright offensive. On a daily basis I encounter a version of Mara sovs OF or ADA-1s creamy usb port.
-
If you encounter names that you feel are inappropriate, feel free to report them, it will speed in their detection, but rest assured, the filter will pick them up eventually. I have seen many of the names you mention come through here complaining of being moderated.
-
But reviewing the rules for names my name violated none. So it’s safe to say I’m a little salty
-
Do you mean depression taker of joy? Or did you pick a new one and got it removed a second time? Regardless yes it did.
-
Which rule did it violate?
-
Any. I suggest you pick one. Regardless you pick that name again.
-
What are you on about? What rule did it violate? It violated no rules according to bungies own name rules and code of conduct.
-
The bungie moderation team says otherwise. Next time don't make light of people who suffer from depression.
-
It says no where in the terms and services, rules or code of conduct that it violates. And I am one of those people who suffers from depression. I fight through it every day and the name was a banner. Every time I cleared a raid or a dungeon I saw my name on that leaderboard I knew despite depression taking my joy I could win.
-
No one here. Nor Bungie. Will ever address or confirm to you on that. In fact anyone else that sees it interprets it in the opposite manner. Hence why it was reported. And correctly removed by the moderation team. If you have any changes left you will have to pick something else.

Your name has rifle in it which makes people think of guns and gun violence. Should they change your name due to just the mere thought of it?
-
Should you report it. And they deem it so. Sure. But it's not referencing gun violence. That's the difference.
