Payback was never gonna be a D3 considering Frontiers is a leak that all of D1 is going into D2 and D2 was gonna receive a complete overhaul
It makes NO sense to make a D3 since that would mean no more D2 and after the work id take to pull of frontiers that makes no sense.
Id more then likely be a Destiny spin off game

Makes perfect sense to make a D3. D2 was built on antique tech. A full new game that runs optimally on new systems and infrastructure would eliminate a lot of the problems D2 has fundamentally.

But somethings are just a dream. No more no less. But the reason the overhaul is a waste. Is we get nothing new content wise. Overhaul the framework. Still the same wheel.

Bearbeitet von Gilgamesh: 8/2/2024 3:48:17 AMWhat? A D3 would be worse they wont transfer all your stuff over youd have less content and have to pay for years to get to the level of content D2 has. The overhaul isnt a waste because it literally solved the issues you named with D2. Which is why i said just admit you want a D3 and i meant “admit you want a D3 for no reason”

Hard Meta reset an something completely fresh. Doesn't solve all of them. Just the systematic ones.

It will solve no issues because they will just happen again. Power creep is a solution that will never be solved in this style of game without sunsetting from the launch. There is no way to do it and players would hate it

And those issues are part of frontiers lmao
-
Cool so they fix the framework.......which is one facet solved?

There's actually quite a few people still clinging to the idea that 'D3 will solve everything' when we know the reality is that it wouldn't because D2 didn't solve all of the original D1 problems (which it was supposed to)! There's just too much to change from the current design and technology platform for it to be anywhere near financially viable (and they're supposed to be saving money, not spending it). The 'leak' about Frontiers certainly sounds plausible, although I'm pretty sure it's just rolling back in all of the sunset D2 content because that sounds exactly like Bungie's style

The frontiers leak came from the same guy who leaked alot of other stuff years in advance

The recent updates from Paul Tassi are pretty interesting because they pretty much confirm both cases - it's been hinted that the major updates in Frontiers would be 'Shadowkeep in size' which is pretty telling because that primarily contained re-used assets from Destiny 1 (and it seems like an odd comparison to make off-hand) I could certainly see them bringing back each of the 'missing' planets as their own annual additions because it would significantly reduce the effort, and that would also explain why these updates will be free going forward (because charging for content that you took from people after they'd already paid for it once would definitely be the death-knell).
