Disagree.
All that will happen is players will switch grenade types. The game offers a lot of different grenades that have the same area-denial/zone-control effect.

Respectfully agree to disagree. I have no issue with that. AoE grenades were always the go to for that. They have a lo gee cool down than special ammo and still aren't that oppressive. Witherhoard is also more used as the 'drop and shoot' than almost any other GL or grenade itself. You're almost guaranteed a kill and that's not balance. It's become a very cheese weapon. I get that some of this may be a bit different per lobby but it's usage tells the story. Of we way any skill associated with it it should be on a direct hit.

All grenade launchers are hated in pvp. I agree that Witherhoard is more annoying than most, but we’re going have disagree on it being broken. I see this as a reason why pvp and PvE shouldn’t be sharing the same sandbox.

I think there's a line between broken and simply too oppressive. To me broken would be completely uncounterable even in higher lobbies. Which is why Jottün hasn't been touched. It's simply too oppressive compaired to other zone counters. Curious, how much IB have you played this week? We've always agreed in sandbox separation 😎

I’ve given up on Destiny pvp. Especially IB. Bungie is lost , and doesn’t have any real, clear vision for it. Which is sad, because I used to really love IB in D1…and it was an awesome “catch-up” mechanic for solo players who were shut out of end-game content and access to the better gear there. But in my view, “broken” and “uncounterable” are the same. Sunbreaker 1.0 was broken when it first came out. I still remember popping that super in a D1 IB match, wading into a room with an entire fire team. Having a D1 Stormtrance Warlock counter with his own super… …and I killed all 5 of his teammates WHILE he was trying to burn me down with his super. …and I came close to taking him out as well. That’s what my idea of oppressive looks like. People used to hear super being activated, and they’d just scatter. Because there was no standing up to it.

I respect your opinions and experience you know that. So I hate to throw this card at you if all people, but Witherhoard was a primary deciding factor in IB this week, at least in many of my matches, where 1 or 2 players with it denied entire teams 2 flags. That's oppressive. If you haven't experienced that of late then you may not have the current insight.
“broken” and “uncounterable” are the same.
And that how I defined it above of you missed my contexts. I'm not saying Witherhoard is uncounterable, I'm simply saying it too oppressive for a single weapon. No matter what it's dssifh intent was. I only wish Supers were feared like they were in D1.

I got your point. I’m just saying that we disagree because we define those terms differently. What you are calling “oppressive”, I would just call “annoying”. I think one of the biggest issues is that Bungie doesn’t restrict builds in pvp. So teams can stack certain weapons on a side that are fine we have to face one of the, but quickly become infuriating if you have face two or three of them in a match (cough….Le Monarque…cough). Overwatch used to have the same problem until Blizzard stepped in and started laying down team comp ground rules. Bungie has been too squeamish to do the same..and I think it’s cost them in pvp.
