I have exceptionally mixed feelings on social media as a whole and I’m sure you guys do too (hopefully not that “Instagram bad” mentality, this place can be worse), so what are your thoughts on Reddit?
No poll, just comment.
Also, how many of you can recognize my profile pic?

Full of “intellectuals” that’ll downvote you for making an opinion that doesn’t align with the echo chamber. Probably one of the most pretentious sites I’ve ever seen. Some subreddits are great though.

Bearbeitet von Double07: 10/30/2020 6:32:26 AMIt's easy to make yourself stupid by joining stupid subreddits.
-
It can be a useful site, very few focused subreddits. But generally, reddit tends to be a mob echo chamber.

Bearbeitet von Partisan: 10/29/2020 4:31:06 PMIt's pretty neat. I kinda see it as a collection of unrelated communities rather than one cohesive thing. There are subreddits for basically every interest and viewpoint. Some subs exist just to mock other subs (and then others are created to mock them, and then others are created to...). It's not hard to find the stuff you like and avoid the stuff you don't. In general I don't really get criticizing these huge social media sites for having this or that culture. Whether it's Reddit or Twitter or whatever else, you're the one in control of your experience. IMO you kinda should be building a filter bubble, curating content to pull out the 0.001% of discussion that's worth having, and ignoring the rest. The loudest - even the most representative - voices in the room usually aren't the ones worth listening to. tl;dr haha reddit has funny cats

Carpron (but without the censor) is a subreddit I look at a lot. Other than that I don’t really use reddit a lot.
-
A few useful subreddits in there, but kind of poo in terms of culture and its echo chamber-ness.
-
Just like any other echo chamber. Though there are some useful subreddits.
-
It used to be better before the algorithm changed and they began censoring and deleting a ton of subreddits. pre-2015 reddit was pretty cool. Its still a good site today, but its definitely an echo chamber. It can still be a good experience though depending on what subreddits you're subscribed to.

I just don’t like social media platforms in general since most of them have some form of hive mind in them. Reddit can be helpful if you need a specific sub, but other than that I try to not stay on to long

Bearbeitet von RollTide2235: 10/25/2020 3:35:02 PMMeh I guess it’s like most things I use from the intrawebs...I view it/use it as needed and after I’m done I really dob’t think much about it. Edit: There’s a hidden joke in there somewhere but I’m too tired to try and figure it out.
-
It occasionally gives me Silmarillion memes, it serves its purpose.
-
I think it's great way to easily involve yourself with things you like and then communities surrounding them. It has its bad apples for sure though
-
If I didn't recognize an elite, I'd deserve castration.

Bearbeitet von Swiftlock: 10/23/2020 9:06:07 PMThe site is fine. Many of the people who USE the site, though... This thread should REALLY be called: "Your thoughts on Redditors?"
-
Keanu Chungus wholesome 100

The website is fine. Redditors themselves though...
-
I dont like the platform itself (the way it works feels like trash to me)
-
It's alright. Some sub reddits operate like circle jerking hive minds though (r/stretched immediately comes to mind) and I can't stand how people down vote any-blam!-ingthing whatever the context.
-
YO MAMA sooo FAT, when she joined reddi
-
It has plenty of flaws, but I like it a lot.
-
Weird request but okay (my thoughts) REDDIT
-
The people that hate reddit are the fools that don't venture beyond the popular pages. There are tons of subs for everything, including multiples for games, communities for various fandoms, spooky stories, crazy conspiracy theories about monsters and aliens, and more. Social Media is a lot like guns. Stop blaming the tool for the idiots that use them.
-
Not ready for that thing to eat up my free time lol.
Rocket?
-
I personally do not like the reddit format, and do not use it. I believe that it can or could be a good place to have open discussion, but from the links I've seen of it over the years, as with most social media it is anything but that. Echo chambers trolls idiots conspiracy theorists chronic complainers chronic liars chronic attention seekers It has no appeal to me. Very little social media does.
-
Depends on the subreddit.
-
It’s a forum. That’s really as far as my thoughts extend on it. I prefer smaller forums like this one, to big forums like that, so I don’t really use it.
