  • No. This sort of thing always happens when a large company has a major managerial shake up, or change in how it operates. All the pvp-oriented team leaders left last year when Smith and his PvE-focused vision was given control of the franchise. DeeJ is most likely leaving because there has clearly been a change in marketing approach since Activision left. He has a public relations background, and he’s been doing less and less in the way of interacting with the public with each passing year. Sometimes you just have a moment of clarity when you realize that you’ve gotten too far away from the things you like to do....and sometimes an unexpected job offer is the catalyst that makes you realize it. DeeJ has also accomplished a lot. He helped drag a company whose approach to public relations and marketing was stuck in the 1990s, and too focused on mass media...and dragged it (probably kicking-and-screaming) into the 21st Century. If the part of that process that he enjoyed is past, then now is a good time to move on. Some people like to build things, but they don’t enjoy the tedium of managing them once they’re built. Other people like that, and why not let them have it?
