If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Spreading the good word of people that traded the hands of their 14 year old daughters for goats.
People may have written it, but they were inspired by God and wrote what He willed them to write. The writers aren't perfect and are often very sinful. Solomon had hundreds of wives, Paul killed Christians, Peter denied Jesus 3 times, and Moses was prevented from setting foot in Israel due to sin. Not to mention that David, "a man after God's own heart" slept with the wife of a friend of his and killed him to keep his shame in secret. The people who wrote it aren't perfect by any means, some of them have done some of the worst things you can think of. But that's the point, evil being turned to good for the glory of God. Redemption and hope for the wicked who seek it. Although I am curious, was the line you said from the Bible, or just what was done at that time? If it's from the Bible, could you tell me the verse?

Good to know you follow the teachings of a bunch of awful people that claimed to be writing the words of god in a book that then went on to inspire many great atrocities aswell as fueling bigotry and hate. Just a thing that happened at a time when women were property and could be killed for speaking out against their owners/husbands. Or burnt at the stake for witchcraft if they didn't follow your religions teachings of peace and love.

I'm sorry your experiences with Christians were awful. That does not represent Christ. I've been blessed with a body if believers that love each other and non believers. Sure some of those things you mentioned happened back then, but that was society at the time The one thing that doesn't change is God and his words. He was, is, and will be. If you really read you'll find love in that book that isn't even heard of in this world. The Lord's impact on myself has been so strong it's has stopped me from killing myself or hurting others. I recommend the read 👍
oh yeah and always praying before you read is a good idea

It does not envy
And yet god is love and god is a jealous god Hmmm
It's not the bad kind of jealousy. Say that you are married. If you get jealous when your wife is talking to another man, that is a bad kind of envy. But say you get jealous when you find out that your wife slept with another man, that is a righteous kind of jealousy. The latter is what God is. We are His, and when we sin we "cheat" on him and betray him. He in turn, is full of righteous anger and jealousy.
