Good morning. I hope you had a good weekend.
We’ll go through the threads today to pull out any new feedback that may have surfaced since Thursday/Friday, and be sure to bring it to the team. If we have any information to share with you, we’ll be sure to! Here’s a quick list (off the top of my head as I’m still at home) of what we have so far:
• Players would like to see Sandbox adjustments more frequently
• When adjustments (nerfs) are made, they’d like smaller changes to occur, so favorite weapons or archetypes don’t feel like they’ve fallen to the bottom of the barrel
• Some bosses feel handcrafted for Snipers, so the upcoming changes feel like they’ll make those encounters much more difficult to approach
• 150 HandCannons feel to be the best in class right now, and players would like more variety
• While AutoRifles got some slight buffs, players would like to see more love
• Scout Rifles continue to feel underwhelming compared to other weapons in PvE and PvP
• Quite a few PvP-centric players appreciate the upcoming changes, but would love to see examples in video form
• What about abilities/armor? (Spoilers - we’ll be talking about those soon!)
We’ve also seen questions surrounding the timing of certain balance passes, and why some outliers stay at the top for so long. Another question would be “why haven’t certain aspects of feedback been addressed after we’ve given it for a while?”
Frankly, I do not have a good answer for that. Could be a lack of prioritization. Could be that player feedback sometimes clashes with usage statistics, or even feedback from other community members. (Ex: Fusion rifle lovers enjoyed going toe to toe with shotguns, but players strongly desired nerfs)
Sometimes, changes are planned for future seasons when we have more time/resources to ensure the changes are made correctly. There’s also sometimes a seasonal tie-in to balancing, so the changes feel more natural to the playspaces you’ll be in or the challenges you’ll face. We can’t necessarily illustrate these scenarios when we share details on the changes (because spoilers!), but we can look to improve these comms as we continue.
We always have room for improvement in the live-game aspects of Destiny, whether it be communication, balancing, narrative, or other. Thank you to everyone who’s given feedback over the years, and thank you to everyone who will continue to as Destiny 2 continues to evolve.
I honestly hate that the damn community manager for our forum never posts this stuff to their official forum. Why do we always have to use stupid shit like Twitter or reddit just to see them respond to questions people have or to give us any insight on what's going on? Why do they keep this forum going if they don't spend any actual time MANAGING it? I know they do sometimes, but it's never like we see on those alternative sites. It's always "yeah I'll maybe get them to look at it eventually." "They do this because its toxic on the forum," yeah that's a load of horse shit. They can't just hide from their official forum because people hurt their feelings. This shouldn't make me as irritated as it does but its like...why do people even waste their time on here if the people who supposedly run it don't even check it enough to matter. It's pretty much always been that one of the two clowns eventually say things on the forums at like 4 PM pst and then nothing for the rest of the week. Why is it so damn slow to hear even a simple yes or no answer to some of these? Why do we have to use alternative sites for information that should be supplied here? I swear they need to update the forum so that we can see this shit regardless of what platform they post it on.
-
They delete any feedback perceived as hate, which is almost everything so that's why they only post there, it's heavily over moderated
-
Props to him for addressing it but Ill actually respect it when we start seeing more frequent balance patches

Can DMG clarify this?? *”Could be that player feedback sometimes clashes with usage statistics, or even feedback from other community members. (Ex: Fusion rifle lovers enjoyed going toe to toe with shotguns, but players strongly desired nerfs)”* Cause the way I read that is, fusion players liked being in a decent spot to counter OP blind rushing hopping shotgunners, but a lot more people use shotguns, so they cried a lot and made a lot of noise, so we destroyed your one good counter to shotguns.” Did I get that about right?

Reddit is much more moderated or censored compared to this forum. Bungie criticism is often removed from any Reddit threads. The reason why the Community Managers tend to respond and interact with the posts on Reddit is because they are fluff pieces. The hard topics/issues are rarely if ever openly discussed. These announced nerfs obviously are a major issue in the game and there was no way Reddit could entirely censor out the player feedback. Bungie was not only getting roasted on their official forum but were also taking heat on their censored one. A reply had to occur to avoid the dumpster fire spreading.

Bungie- The Community spoke and we listened now snipers are getting nerfed. Wait what no way. There is no way that anyone would ask for a nerf of snipers. And hold on what the hell i would say after taking literally a year to fix the izanagis quest to spit in there face with a nerf is terrible for business people are going to throw there hands up and give up on the game. When you say the community who is it your talking to i see forum after forum after forum talking about how bad of an idea it is and when you say community it must be your bungie team your talking about. I knew that once you lost some of your leads that either they found a better opportunity or they didn't agree with how you would go forward in the future of Destiny 2. Prob the second one but anyway when will you get your shit together. I am starting to believe that as greedy as Activision was I believe they kept you in check with how they probably would have told you that some of the most fun and desirable things that you grind in this game are pretty much now just trash or going to be trash soon. We probably will see another -blam!-ing double primary meta coming soon lol what a joke i mean come on bungie i do love you guys this is just a bad move.

If only they had a forum for their own game rather than always having to post on a third party forum! This is what really grinds my gears! I don't care about twitter / reddit etc..... Tell me about the game on this bloody forum!
-
The fact he doesn't post this in their own forum says a lot.

Bearbeitet von Ingwe-Queen: 2/25/2020 9:42:34 AMI am a little disappointed with DMG (yes 😲) that he posted on Reddit before on the official Bungie forum. Edit. After reflection, I have changed my mind on this subject. Why in gods name should he post here first this forum does not deserve it.
-
Spoilers? I'm sorry, but Bungie treats the hecking NAME of a season as a spoiler. They clearly have no idea what a spoiler is. Like revealing the name "Dawn" earlier would have spoiled soooooo much...

There's nobody manning the ship! All the lifeboats have been launched or scuttled.

It's HILARIOUS that after 3-4 Scout Rifle buffs, they still feel like trash. Rapid and Lightweight frames only feel good because they can dish out their damage much quicker. Adaptive and High Impact do underwhelming damage for their rate of fire, and I feel like all scout rifles do very similar damage. Due to this reason, it feels better to dish out that damage with a higher fire rate than a slow and sluggish scout.
-
The line where he speaks of community feed back does not reflect in game data. I do wonder what these cases were and how big were the differences from community feed back to in-game use. My bet is nova warp, nothing else really comes to mind recently where players complain its a shitty super. & warlocks will almost always tell you its a bad super while using it as a keystone for the defense of why HHSN is fine, because the super in the tree is lack luster thus it compensates. I do not feel this way but it is their most common defense. I dont know about you guys but Ive seen that super team wipe a great deal of times.

One thing that is clear is that was only round one. The scene in which the nerf wagon rolls slowly into town. In act two they will kick the wheels off of it and set it on fire in the town square....Then they will have a game they feel they can release Trials into. I kinder and gentler game. A game in which there is at least an even chance of an aggressive pillow fight breaking out at any moment in the crucible.
-
They participate more over there and twitter than their own forums lol.

This might come across harsh to Kellyboys :D however, this is what gets me mad the below list literally been around for so long that DMG's coming out and listing them like they are actually new feedback is just laughable; • Players would like to see Sandbox adjustments more frequently • When adjustments (nerfs) are made, they’d like smaller changes to occur, so favorite weapons or archetypes don’t feel like they’ve fallen to the bottom of the barrel • Some bosses feel handcrafted for Snipers, so the upcoming changes feel like they’ll make those encounters much more difficult to approach • 150 HandCannons feel to be the best in class right now, and players would like more variety • While AutoRifles got some slight buffs, players would like to see more love • Scout Rifles continue to feel underwhelming compared to other weapons in PvE and PvP

Imagine if they would have posted last weeks TWAB on here😬 lol
-
In other words a bunch of lying garbage. Got it.

I just wish adjustments would come from common sense rather than usage statistics and the desire to make a new meta. Look ar our global statistics. They contain info from two ENTIRELY different sandboxes, every playlist from solo to heavily team-focused, and across every skill bracket. Data like that is inherently misleading, unless there's a serious outlier in the game, which there hasn't been since NF/Luna's on console. For example, people like to say fusion use is low. They use usage data of snipers and shotties as a direct comparison. Looking at global data, they're correct. However, fusions inherently have less team potential than shotties and snipers, power aside. Fusions also aren't a problem on PC because M&K players can pop a 180 instantly and get away. Can't can't that on console. So break down the data based on game mode and platform and you see this trend: PC: Not a problem at all. Used less than snipers and shotties by a significant margin. Common across most playlists. Console Team-Heavy Playlists: Used less than both snipers and shotties. Console Solo Playlists (SBMM Control and Rumble): Used more than snipers in Rumble consistently; Varies in Control (sometimes over snipers; sometimes less). Now does global data indicate any of that at all? No. Only time global usage data means something is when like 1 gun has 50% of all PvP kills (pre-nerf Luna's). A little bit of common sense should come into play when determining what adjustments are necessary, if any. (Now this is just meant to show how unreliable global usage data is. I'm not gonna use any of this to justify a nerf.) And then when adjustments do come around, it usually feels like too much. The goal of a sandbox team should be to narrow the gap between non-meta and meta; not make a new meta every season just to "shake things up." Things are shaken up plenty if there are a lot of viable options. Things don't feel fresh at all if every lobby is the same crap because they're SO much better than everything else.

What about the dominance of Snipers on PC with no flinch and shotguns?
-
Still hiding behind the knob slobbing Reddit fangirls I see not like they have an official forum or anything lmao

Nothing but talk. Nothing he said will have any influence on how the game progresses.
-
They did the usual and buried the movement to the “important feedback” section. They do it every time there’s a movement with thousands of likes and comments. It’s a way to bury things so the movement dies. I’m closer than I’ve been to just deleting this game and walking away forever. Sucks.

I'm honestly more upset about him not pinning Niris's infographic this week than any of that other stuff.
