Less than 200k are playing pvp across all platforms, tells the story really.

It's so funny bec sols here claimed for a year that majority prefer sbmm despite player numbers being in the 200,000s the entire Y1 when it was under sbmm, then we got cbmm - had huge population numbers again, he cries here for months and bungie flip it back to sbmm and were back down again to 200K even though the games f2p 😂😂😂

Exactly this. CBMM always sees a population boo. Bungie gets cocky and slips it back to SBMM and boom everyone goes plays something that isn't a laggy mess. Lost sols is the kid crying " no fair" when getting stomped in the playground

What you call SBMM isn’t the reason people are not engaged. Destiny’s engagement always starts with PVE.
-
But SBMM did nothing to keep people engaged, whether or not it's the reason they left. People were using the low player engagement numbers during CBMM to argue against CBMM, when in fact as you said it directly correlates with PvE engagement. So SBMM really has no effect on general player pop. retention and only frustrates the dedicated pvp community.
-
You guys conflate stuff too much.
-
Lmao, ok... So how does SBMM help?
What you call SBMM isn’t the reason people are not engaged. Destiny’s engagement always starts with PVE.
Yes but when pve is lackluster many players fa back on pvp. When pve sucks and the pvp is full of toxic sbmm no one falls back on it and instead they go play other things

Been playing more Apex than D2 pvp. They actually added SBMM around Thanksgiving and removed it last week after getting massive backlash! That's a developer that listens to their community!

Bearbeitet von toneDef Weary: 12/26/2019 6:23:18 PMI'd argue that the majority of the PvE players fall back to other games when the PvE is lackluster. I think it's reasonable to believe most PvE players don't care for or about PvP. Edit - Spelling error.
-
Then pvp numbers would remain high no? Ime most players who run pve also do some pvp
-
And if they don't hang around because the PvE isn't holding them, they also go elsewhere for their PvP fix. I'm no crystal ball, so it's just my speculation. Do with it as you will. As to your argument on SBMM, everytime they switch fromm CBMM heavy to SBMM heavy and vice-versa, there are also other changes that affect the PvP arena, so you can't really use either as a measuring tool for the health of PvP. I'll use the same arguement that those that want SBMM get everytime. If CBMM is better, then how's that classic mix doing? I really don't care either way. I don't care for PvP and am generally pretty terrible at it, unless I really hunker down and get into the swing of things.
I'll use the same arguement that those that want SBMM get everytime. If CBMM is better, then how's that classic mix doing?
Classic mix isn't a proof at all though. It's a hidden playlist in a corner next to private matches where no one other then those who already are aware of its exsistance see it. And those players are generally advanced ones, meaning every average and above looking for a casual pvp mode end up matching each other because no one else knows about it. Further the issue is with it being the only cbmm mode means all average and up players looking to now sweat under sbmm are choked into that one mode and then all you match are the same players. Meaning there is no casual pvp in D2 right now. Let's take a look at forsaken: 1 Cbmm playlists. 3 sbmm playlists. 1 rbmm playlist which is essentially skill based but whatever. Lost sols heres cries for the entire year because there exists a playlist where he is not catered to and has cbmm instead of playing the ones that do have his preference. Quickplay was booming with players all year, showing that most just click the biggest boldest icon and game. Theres nothing wrong with some playlists being sbmm and some not, but if control (the biggest icon) is going to have sbmm then the other playlists should be cbmm or an equally obvious playlist needs to be made for cbmm, what we had in forsaken was CBMM as biggest icon Rest SBMM Now we have SBMM as biggest icon Rest of playlists besides 1 SBMM
-
Needs to be flipped so that Classic Mix is the only SBMM playlist and all the bad players can go there.
-
Sols tears would be hilarious
-
Sols tears would be hilarious
Lol he wouldn't have a leg to stand on though. Having a skill-based playlist, with various gammodes like Classic Mix does, leaves the SBMM crowd with no legitimate complaints. If they continued their crusade after that, it would only prove that their real objective is to drive away the hardcore PvP community.
-
Yes his end goal is to face no decent players and only be matched with scrubs who jump into walls as he shoots them with a bow (have you seen the vid he made where that happens?) His anti everyone plays each other is simply because better players punish his passive playstyle and he cant stand the fact that there are better players out there
-
Yeah, God forbid you have to actually get better to see your performance improve.
-
I wasn't trying to offer any kind of proof. It was just a rif on the fact that anytime anyone used to ask for SBMM they were told to just play Comp, even though they most likely didn't because of the game modes. Like I said, I stay far away from PvP unless necessary and I feel like suffering, so I don't have a horse in this race.
-
Not sure who told people to play comp, back when people made sbmm posts I always advised them to play the weekly rotational playlist or rumble or banner when it was up or comp. Again I'm for some playlists having sbmm, the more player choices = the better 4 Sbmm playlists and 1 big cbmm playlist flipped should have meant 4 cbmm playlists and 1 big sbmm playlist. Instead it flipped to 3 sbmm playlists, 1 cbmm playlist and 1 big sbmm playlist.

Bearbeitet von toneDef Weary: 12/26/2019 9:55:34 PMIt just seemed to be the most go to response back then, I didn't mean to imply that you said that and sorry if I did. I will say, my own personal thoughts on the matter(and take this with a grain of salt, due to my previously mentioned reasons) is that Comp weighing more to CBMM makes sense, as you want a cleaner connection for a proper competitive game and SBMM makes more sense for quickplay, as the less competitive minded will not have any kind of fun going up against people they have absolutely zero chance against The thing is, then the people that are good don't get a chance to "relax", if you will, as they are always going up against other good-excellent players. I don't know where the answers lie unfortunately. Even as it stands, there isn't really SBMM only or CBMM only, it's just that one form is weighed more heavily than the other. Maybe they just need to find that sweet spot. Edit - I am also always for more player choice and not less.
It just seemed to be the most go to response back then, I didn't mean to imply that you said that and sorry if I did.
All good I didnt think you were saying I had said as much I was simply saying back in forsaken players who wanted sbmm had several options for it, why didnt they utilize them instead of complaining incessantly about the 1 playlist without is beyond me.
I will say, my own personal thoughts on the matter(and take this with a grain of salt, due to my previously mentioned reasons) is that Comp weighing more to CBMM makes sense, as you want a cleaner connection for a proper competitive game and SBMM makes more sense for quickplay, as the less competitive minded will not have any kind of fun going up against people they have absolutely zero chance against
Doing it that way turns quickplay into a sweat fest and comp into the social mode. Quickplay is supposed to be about finding the first possible match, not filtered by skill or rank. You mention weaker players wont have fun against people they have zero chance against but how often does that happen? Let's say that the top 5% make that kind of matchup (probably less considering 1.1kd ratio count as the top 25% of pvp) - so roughly 1 in 20 games will have such an occurrence, not really a huge deal imo
The thing is, then the people that are good don't get a chance to "relax", if you will, as they are always going up against other good-excellent players.
Indeed, there is no casual mode which lead to average and above players being quickly exhausted of sweating each match meaning they tire faster and end up going to pve or if they're in a pvp mood onto other games.
I don't know where the answers lie unfortunately. Even as it stands, there isn't really SBMM only or CBMM only, it's just that one form is weighed more heavily than the other. Maybe they just need to find that sweet spot.
I have a simple solution Comp goes rank based again, the best players will be at the top and everyone else will move up until they meet thier peers and stay at that level. The rest of the playlists get split. One 3vs3 sbmm One 4vs4 cbmm One 6vs6 sbmm One 6vs6 cbmm
Edit - I am also always for more player choice and not less.
Agreed.

hahahaha thats awesome
