Too much hand holding for me.
High impact fusions with backup plan that have effective ranges past the damage dropoff of several primaries, diminishing primary play.
Shotguns that have the same OHK distance as aggressive frames but more rate of fire and twice the handling.
Snipers that were never used until massive outliers in terms of range and aim assist were introduced, allowing them to shoot through flinch, diminishing primary play. (Case and point: Sole Survivor was released months before Beloved and has the same zoom and can get awesome perks like opening shot and snapshot, but was never used. Beloved release with more than 20 more aim assist at the same zoom value and boom. It's everywhere.)
Hand cannons with no recoil but still have a 3 tap potential that exceeds the range for a lot of HCs.
OEM gives free wall hacks. Nerf was completely put in the wrong place, but at least the OEM aping has toned down.
And so many more.
Every thing I mentioned dimishines the skill gap and just does extra work for the player. A weapon should not hold a player's hand. It's too much. I can't even take it seriously. If I drop a 5.0, great. If I drop a 0.5, great. Doesn't matter. Loot doesn't change. Developer "renewed focus" hasn't been demonstrated. And players are still cheesing their way through PvP.

While these are all important issues worth discussing, I still say the number one issue with Crucible and PvP in D2 in general, is the lack of dedicated servers. Case in point: I'm writing this while flying into a new match, after I just got drophacked out of my previous IB match after our team was clearly beating the pants off the opposing team (they already lagswitched me so that I dropped out and then reconnected to the match, wiping my score).

Beloved being more widely used may also be because you can actively farm for Beloved. You can't say the same for Sole Survivor.
-
Fair point.
-
Not to mention it can drop with No Distractions.
-
Aztecross said when he was at Bungie recently, they acted surprised that people think they aren’t delivering on their promise of renewed PvP focus lol
-
Well, they aren't.
-
I only use beloved bc of the scope I’m not very good using the “v” reticles
-
That's fair. That's preference. That means you at least tried other rifles. 90% of Beloved users saw a YouTube video and went and got one. Never tried anything else.
-
There’s nothing wrong with Beloved, though. It’s just that every other sniper sucks. Beloved isn’t even as good as most D1 snipers.
-
I'm not saying it's OP or anything. I'm just saying it took an outlier in the range and aim assist departments to even make snipers used. All that means is that people require a certain amount of hand holding to try anything on console. Hence why all the best weapons in D2 throughout it's history this far have been weapons with a very low skill requirement. NF, Luna's, 180 HCs in general, precison frame shotguns, Recluse, etc. Doesn't mean it's OP or needs a nerf. Just means people take the easiest route. It's just my opinion that the easier routes shouldn't be the best.
-
Yeah I know what you’re saying. 140/150 HC’s need a damage buff badly to make them have a higher potential but lower ease of use. Then NF and Luna should be reverted back to their original state. In a way they’re trying to do the same thing with snipers by making their AA and zoom correlate to impact. Higher impact = lower AA, more zoom. In D1 the AA was 70+ on all high impact snipers and any scope like Shortgaze or Ambush could roll on most Legendary snipers, so there was no reason to use any other archetype, and no skill gap associated with the extra benefits of using a high impact sniper (rez-sniping, body shot clean-ups, OHK on supers, etc.). But Beloved is basically an LDR from D1, albeit not quite as good. And Revoker has less zoom when compared to other high impact snipers. So they are outliers.

Bearbeitet von Wes: 12/25/2019 7:18:17 PMI honestly think 140s should be able to 2 crit 1 body, while 150s 3 crit. That way there's an actual difference between them and a skill gap associated with 150s. It would make 140s easier, but they wouldn't have the lethality and handling of 150s. I think that's a fair trade. That would make 140s be able to give NF a run for it's money, while making a good player with a good 150 stray closer to Spare Rations or another good 150 due to the handling increase they provide over NF. But anyways, without getting into specifics, I just think easy-to-use weapons should have drawbacks honestly. Like, why does backup plan exist on Erentil? That just shouldn't be a thing. Takes away all the drawbacks, keeps a 35+ meter OHK, and even significantly reduces the visual and audio queues of a fusion. What more help does the user need? Why an exotic park made it onto legendaries is beyond me. Edit: And let's be real. 70+ AA on all snipers in D1 was insane. Very few snipers in D2 match that. Beloved is the only 90 RPM sniper that does and there are only a few 140s that do, but they lose that stickiness at range. No high impact sniper does. Not even Revoker I think. It has low zoom, but that's it.
-
Agree with everything you said. And that’s what I’m saying about snipers. Beloved goes out of its lane so that’s why it’s so good. It has the handling, AA, and zoom of a 140 rpm but the impact of a 90 rpm.
-
Pretty much. It's a forgiving, effective option. Really doesn't leave a lot of room for much else.
