• I think people are forgetting how things actually were in D1, nostalgia is clouding people's judgement. Take D1Y2 for example, we had The Taken King, which was arguably the best expansion in Destiny's history (I think it was better than Forsaken, both are top 2). That expansion introduced the new weapon/infusion system, lengthy quests, full raid, etc. The expansion was great quality content, but the problem was the longevity of the content. After about 3 months, the content started to become stale with nothing to look forward to for awhile. It wasn't until "The April Update" which was 6 months after the yearly DLC that we got the first update which included 2 story missions, 1 strike, and Challenge of the Elders. Granted, it was nice to get some new content, it was barely enough to keep players interested for a single month, needing to wait another 6 months until the next DLC in September. D1 had SEVERE content droughts that lasted for several months at a time. Compare this to Destiny 2, with the exception for the slow start to Year 1, Destiny 2 has rarely had content droughts that last any longer than a week or two. You can claim that there is less quality to the content, and there may be some merit to that argument, but seriously compare the PVE activities from D1 and D2: Destinations: D1 has 6 (if you include the Plaguelands), D2 has 9 Raids: D1 has 4, D2 has 7 Dungeons: D1 has PoE and CoE (not a dungeon, but similar), D2 has 2 complete dungeons Other multiplayer activities: D1 has Court of Oryx and Archon's Forge D2 has Escalation Protocol, Blind Well, Black Armory Forges, The Reckoning, The Menagerie, Altars of Sorrow, and the Seasonal activities that are rotating in every 3ish months. This doesn't even include the entirety of Gambit and Gambit Prime Everyone is entitled to their opinion about Destiny's quality, and I'll agree the quality of the non-September seasons in Destiny 2 have been significantly less than the September releases from Destiny 1, but I'm happy with the thought of constantly having reasons to play the game. I personally have felt like I've constantly had things to do in the game ever since Warmind.

You can write 8000 pages of your opinions. here's mine way more simplified. D1 not perfect but was FUN and felt rewarding D2 a dumbed down version of the game I loved and felt forced and Never fun, and definitely not rewarding. People can say what they want but if not for the promise of more destiny D2 wouldn't have sold shit of people knew exactly what was coming for that $100 . It's like being hooked on something and getting a empty box that has a IOU in it .

  • Fun is relative, so everyone will see it differently. Let me ask you a serious question, what SPECIFICALLY in D1 would you consider fun? Meaning the kind of gameplay that made you come back week after week after week. For me, it was mostly the raiding experience, which I am still able to get in D2. I understand not everyone raids, but comparing the D1 and D2 non-raid activities, D1 is pretty light, not bad, just light. The main thing I don't miss were the times the game got VERY slow, there were a few times where my friends left the game for 3 or more months at a time because literally nothing changed. I keep seeing people complain saying D1 was better than D2, but rarely see anyone explain WHY. It's funny because I remember in the final months of D1, everyone seemed so excited to play something new since D1 was getting very stale, but now everyone is acting like it was vastly superior.

  • D2 has no OMFG I got this ...... Ever. D1 just felt like a better carrot to chase. I like to feel more power. In D2 I could be light level 250000 and still play exactly as light level 200. And fun is a opinion, to bad multimillions seem to have my idea of what a fun and rewarding game is. If D2 didn't have the mass amount of people that paid Penny's or got the game for free . The population would be laughable

  •
D2 has no OMFG I got this ...... Ever.
Again, I think nostalgia is getting to you. D1's big "OMFG" moment for most players is when they finally got the Gjallarhorn as it was a random drop in the game. It was definitely part of the D1Y1 experience working towards getting the massively overpowered gun. With that said, even though there was not a gun that had that level of excitement (ie not trending on Twitter when Xur finally sold it again), but there were plenty of other weapons that I was extremely excited when I got it for the first time: 1k voices and Anarchy both related to RNG were weapons that had me very excited, it was also exciting getting Whisper and Outbreak for the first time, although those were less RNG based.

  • I don't have time to write 800 pages of what's crappier about D2 over D1. of this forum didn't reset every 3 days because they super scared to leave most these posts up you could clearly read all the reasons given in the last 2 years

  •
Quality over quantity.
Now, we have neither. 1) Content is removed, therefore logically, we have less content. 2) Quality is no longer subjective as even the most diehard Bungie defenders state something to the effect of: “For $10 it ain’t bad”. Few, if any comment on how awesome the final assault or the Season in general was. It’s always framed against how inexpensive it is/was. Cheap & Disposable. That’s the mindset moving forward. Unfortunate.
