Just another tilt post

Paying a lot of competitive the last few weeks. Just got my Lunas howl. I'm writing this right after going on a losing streak so forgive me for making this thread in the first place. In any game there's a lot of discussion about things being too strong and what not. I would like to try m best to make a constructive case as to why Destiny 2 will never have a proper Competitive 'league'. There's a couple of things that contribute to this. Now before I continue I do quite enjoy PVP, it's by no means an bad time although tilt moments do happen as I'm sure you understand. Anyways, any game that is patched and updated and that has multiplayer will have a meta. Things will vary in strength all the time and there's bound to be points where there's things that are straight out broken. 1. INSTAKILLS In Destiny there's a myriad of things that will instantly kill a player, none of which are necessarily 'OP': - Fusion Rifles - Shotguns - Titan Class Ability - Warlock Class Ability - Any super - Sniper Rifles - Rocket Launchers - Grenade Launchers - Moderate amount of exotics Now I don't think there's anything OP at the moment. At least not like LOW a moment ago. Simply because almost everyone has access to these and the effectiveness of it will mostly depend on the user's skill. (With a few exceptions like Truth). On top of that there are ways to avoid getting instakilled by most of these. A couple of cases 1. Enemies got shotguns? Don't corner rush and stay at a distance. 2. Enemies got Snipers? Don't peek and wait it out. 3. Enemy super is up? Team shot them while they try to get to you. Nevertheless is any match filled with a variety of different ways that will instakill you so it's bound to happen. So to loop back to my point: There is little to no way to play around all of these. Instakills don't encourage competitive play as there is usually little skill involved. 2. CLASS DIFFERENCES Notice I did not say class imbalance. I don't think any class is OP but I do believe some classes are a lot better by default than others. If you check my account you will see I am a -blam!- so I will most likely have minus points for that but allow me to make a case for the following: (I will not mention specific supers because every class has a roaming super that is basically the same) Titans - Can place a shield. Blocking a high amount of incoming damage and severely injuring enemies who touch it - Have a melee ability that is a guaranteed instant kill - One Eyed Mask: Instanly starts regeneration after combat and provide overshield. Damage can interrupt but the instant regeneration is the big deal. - Peacekeeper: Really strong with Recluse. Warlocks - Healing rift that continuously AoE heals and provides overshield. - Instant kill melee ability Hunters - Dodge, pretty much useless. Because you cannot return fire you're basically dead when you dodge. Can be usefull with the healing helmet to give you a small bump but will usually still get you killed in any gunfight. - Knife throw, doesn't even instakill with precision hit. But can be useful with the explosion perk to zone and kill enemies behind cover when they're low. - Uppercut, doesn't even instakill. (Might be wrong here) If you play regular competitive you probably noticed a lot of 4 man striker titans running one eyed mask. There's a good reason for that. Anyways the reason why this ties back to my point is because to reach a competitive playing field all classes should be on somewhat the same powerlevel. Tool wise. To reach this Bungo could simply give them all the same abilities but wouldn't that be boring. Exotics make this even harder to achieve. 3. CONNECTION Most of my matches' victory depend on who's the host. I've gotten numerous matches where my hits took a second to register and where I died behind walls and rocks, getting two tapped or even one tapped by HC and Machine Guns. When I am the host, I can usually tell by the fact that i'm popping triple taps with my HC left and right. Anyways, so far my tilt. I hope you gave it a decent read feel free to add things or disagree. I would love to have a conversation about this. But then again, I shouldn't come to the forums for that...
