There has been a lot of talk about factions recently and what should happen with them going forward. Here's my feedback on what should be brought back.
Constant Loot Pools:
Factions selling weapons and armor 24/7 in D1 was a good thing, it was another set of weapons/armor that we could grind for and use. I thought it would be a good idea to offer a single loot-pool across all seasons. This could be all vanilla gear just with random rolls, shaders, a ship and a sparrow, you know the usual loot pool that can be obtained through doing bounties, turning in materials, etc.
Faction Rallies:
This was Bungie's attempt at making siding with a faction feel more like an impactful decision which was good, but bad at the same time. Yes, you made players choose wisely but at the same time the activities that determined victory weren't all that great. Faction rallies should definitely come back as a week-long event, offering an exclusive seasonal loot-pool. Instead of making it a lost sector grind, what you could possibly do is make a Faction Strike playlist with the shoot-able loot caches from the lost sectors in year 1. Maybe give players a buff that allows them to do more damage if they do activities with other members of their faction while wearing faction armor. Something that allows people to play solo but benefits players who find other faction members to play with during the event.
This is a personal suggestion, maybe also make an exotic quest that starts with pledging with a specific faction then go on to assemble a weapon across multiple steps. Throughout this mission you could learn about what your faction really believes in, learn more about its history, etc. At the end the weapon would be the same regardless of which faction you started the quest with, but you could perhaps get a weapon ornament that decorates the weapon with that faction's colors/designs.
This is my feedback, if I missed something or got something horribly wrong, let me know.
