So we have to buy dlcs on every platform we want to cross-save over to now. This feels like a predicament to Bungie's vision of breaking down barriers. I mean they don't shy away from saying that money is a barrier yet we have to buy expansions multiple times , sounds like a barrier to me. If I play with my friends on ps4 and want to hop onto a raid or the new dungeon with my friends on pc I wouldn't be able to, sounds like a barrier to me. This isn't a problem for youtubers and streamers as they have the money to throw away on the expansion on every platform they wish too. But for the average player this might sound like too big of an investment. Now I get that bungie is independent right now and doesn't have the corporate funding it had under activision and they might need every last dollar they can get. Now in bungie's defense they don't seem to have a concrete plan on how they want to do this as when asked during e3 they said they might adapt to how they see fit. I mean bungie has been so pro-consumer recently and why not go the extra mile. Now I didn't want to bring up the problem without giving some solutions ( as if I don't no that only one person might stumble onto this post by mistake). Never the less some of my suggestions are: 1. Just let us cross-transfer dlcs free of charge. (low chance of happening in my opinion) 2. Give discounts on dlcs if bought on other platforms, the more you buy expansions the cheaper they become. As in example I bought shadow keep on ps4 then I get dis-accounted for like 10 dollars on pc , and if I decide to buy on a third platform (xbox) it will get further reductions in price. 3. This suggestion sounds kinda weird compared to the previous but offer a "buy it once get it everywhere" bundle for a reasonable price. Now taking stadia out of the equation say I want to play on all 3 platforms (pc, ps4 ,xbox) , as it stands now I have to buy the digital deluxe edition of shadow keep on all of the given platforms because I know Ill play all the seasons that are coming, that's 180 dollars!!!. So offer a "buy it once get it everywhere" for something like 100$ (still a lot but better than 180$) for those interested. Now I don't if bungie has the technical capacity or the enough time to implement any of these changes but I would like at least to see some iteration of one of these solutions in the future rather than not getting one. Now on a personal note after I told my friends we have to buy all the dlcs most of them dropped the idea of moving to pc, so I cant play with my friends on pc now, way to go to breaking down barriers I guess. To be honest cross-save is great but it is not gonna have that big of an effect that crossplay may have had. I guess Ill stick to where my friends are as that is what makes me enjoy this game anyway.
