Actually, “octopodes” is technicallybthe correct plural for octopus.

I read octopi on the internet so I went with that.

They both technically work, but “octopi” is what the plural would be if the wird stemmed from Latin. The word “octopus” stems fron Greek, though, and following Greek rules it becomes “octpodes”.
