Valiant effort.
But Hell will freeze over before one of them shows up here.
1. Because after 7 months of frustration, they’d get shredded.
2. They’d be here trying to defend the indefensible.
3. The TWAB is the party line. They aren’t interested in a respectful relationship on this. They simply want us playing at any cost, and don’t really care if we’re enjoying the experience.
Only one sentence in that whole PR train wreck on Thursday even mentioned player satisfactions. The rest was all about Bungie.
We weren’t being talked to. We were being arrogantly lectured. As if we’re all too dim-witted to understand the masterpiece they’ve created.
As if.....

Interested to know your thoughts on Hamricks departure. One of the crucible sandbox leads. Had a meeting Sunday morning at HQ, then announced on twitter he was leaving Bungie this week. He's a family man, kids, mortgage etc, but he's no new job lined up, he's taking a break and then trying to start elsewhere. So I'm thinking, a guy with responsibilities , doesn't just walk away unless he has something lined up, was forced out, or had issues with management about the future. Now he's a straight talking dude and says he's nothing lined up and we have to take that as said. So then I do a little research and it turns out Derek Carrol and Kevin Yanes, 2 other high profile crucible sandbox guys recently changed their twitter bios from working on Destiny 2 crucible, to just working on D2. Add to this crucible has had almost no love now for 7 months, no plans to bring trials back anytime soon, no new maps, not even reskins, nothing. Several tweets from bungie Devs saying how Apex is amazing, BR is dominating the PvP scene hinting that arena shooters are struggling. This is backed up by several gaming articles that arena shooters are done. We have a company who's lost the support of 2 smaller supporting companies, and lost the huge financial backing and staff from Activision, and the rumoured D3 leaks suggesting it's going to be heavy RPG style, build your character super strong n put time in type thing, am I mad in thinking D3 may drop crucible altogether? Not sure how they'd work it into the lore, but based on finances it may not be viable. Love to know your thoughts, always like your replies even if we don't always agree Cheers
-
Possibly. What Bungie has been trying with it is clearly not working. People love the gunplay, but the overall game experience the Crucible provides is mediocre in a saturated market. I avoid it like a bad rash these days and only play it when a quest demands it. Whereas I used to love grinding Iron Banner in D1.

Good post.
-
Yup. Sad reality of things at this point. It’s a shame too, because we all would have liked to have worked together to make this game better.
-
Yep, there was a window of time between 2 months before Warmind and two months after Forsaken when we had communication and changes based in player satisfaction. Those days are long behind us now, even with the player population dropping to the same levels. Nailed it again KG2. Now are you back to posting on KG2?? Is xxKG2xx an imposter!?!?!!! What is happening!?!?!?
-
I believe xxKG2xx is his alt account. Probably had a posting ban or something.
-
Yeah he cleared it up for me. Apparently social engineering and targeted deplatforming is a thing on the forums too.
-
Doesn’t surprise me. It’s a real shame what has happened to this world over the last few years. I’m sometimes embarrassed to be living in it.
-
Sometimes? It's become so obvious im disgusted im human.

I agree with this. After 7 months of this conversation, being continuously "lectured" and having the role of enhancement cores re-explained to me, I am no longer capable of having a tactful conversation with Bungie about it. I hate it, I hate their mentality and attitude, and I hate what they've done to destiny. I've left destiny 2. I have no hint of a desire to log in anymore. I could farm cores and infuse my gear to 700, but I don't want to because the whole thing is stupid. So many people in the community have explained it so well, theres no reason for me to re explain how terrible this system is here. The community needs to keep their dignity as consumers/players and walk away from this game in my opinion. In a broader sense, the level of arrogance and negligence this developer has is damaging to the integrity of the industry and gaming as a whole. As a publisher I would run from this company as fast as possible.
-
My sentiments exactly.
-
Maybe the solution is to stop talking about Destiny. Start a community discussion for the people like us who are frustrated with the game, and start looking for a new place to go. Discuss the alternatives to Destiny and the pros and cons? Just an idea.
-
Why do you think the Gaming subforum suddenly disappeared?? Anthem fans were using it for just that purpose. So Bungie buried it in OffTopic.
-
That's what happened to the Gaming Tab? Sad
-
Yep. It was blowing up with pre-release posts about Anthem. Bungie merged it with OffTopic so they’d get buried in the political and shitposting that dominates that subforum. It worked. Killed them without Bungie having to act against them directly.

I disagree. I think anyone who'd get abusive would pretty clearly be outing themselves anti game and community and just here to troll. I think most players would love the chance to have one-on-one dialogue with someone from the studio.

They want us to understand their vision. They don't want to understand our viewpoints.

Bearbeitet von Kang 81: 3/25/2019 5:33:28 AMAs much of a train wreck Anthem is at the moment, I respect BioWare for owning up to their mistakes and actually communicating with the player base to make the game better. Sure, it’ll take quite a bit of time, but it’s better than how Bungie handles feedback. I just wish Bungie would handle Destiny fan feedback this way instead of the usual...”We’re Listening...aka...we know best, not shut up and like it” approach.
-
It's hundreds of people. The "studio" doesn't have a collective mind and I can guarantee you there are devs who agree with community concerns on these issues. Again, there's a chance to offer an olive branch or to keep posting negative takes that 100% will ensure things don't improve.
-
The are using generic terms to provide cover for The Investment Team. This contest of wills is not with the entire studio. It’s with a the Investment Team, and the Executive Suite. Both want the benefits of a well-designed game-as-service without actually providing a quality product. So they are trying to manipulate and frustrate us into getting what they want, regardless of the effect it has on us.

I've been trying to be positive. I've given them the benefit of the doubt up until now. But I recognize the tone of the TWAB. I've encountered it many times before. It's the tone that very clearly states "We aren't listening to the community, we don't want to listen to the community, we just want them to understand why our idea is the best one ever." I want to be wrong. I want to be positive. But my experiences to date with situations like this don't give me much confidence, and Bungie's track record on Destiny is very hit or miss as to how they react to community feedback. And the tone so far on Cores is consistent with "misses".

If you've ever worked for a big corporation, you know exactly how to read that statement.

I am a very fair and considerate person. Any goodwill bungie had 'earned' was wasted long ago. All doubts for me are gone. If they are ever going to change, it's going to have to be change I can't ignore. Observable in both word and deed. I am no longer addicted to destiny. I play less and less. I hope bungie figures this out before I'm just gone. It's as if we are all on some sliding scale of frustration. Where you personally land on the scale is valid. Some are long gone- others may never leave- The only thing I know is this isn't going away... players are.
-
Some would. Other people are justifiably angry at this point, and not everyone handles their anger constructively. But it’s a moot point. You attempt at outreach is wise and mature, but I guarantee it will go unanswered. Bungie has made it clear that they don’t respect us enough to dialogue. Go back and reread that TWAB. It was not a response to customer frustration. It was an arrogant lecture about their design goals. A Massive community manager angrily did something similar on their forum when Division 1 was imploding. People hated The Dark Zone and the fact that all the game’s best loot was hidden in it. We suspected that—-like Milestones in this game—-it was an effort to force players to play the game they way the devs wanted. The CM foolishly confirmed that fact in his rant about how important the DZ was to their design goals. His rant went over just as badly as Bungie’s TWAB. But to Massive’s credit that CM announced a couple of weeks later that he was taking another job....and two weeks after that Massive backed down. Then they started the outreach and overhaul that gave us The Division 2. Don’t expect that same level of wisdom and maturity from Bungie on this. Like an arrogant teenager, they have a huge chip on their shoulder about control, and are self-destructing because of it. Everyone works for someone. An independant Bungie works for us...and their shareholders. Right now, Bungie is a lousy employee.

That “Bungie works for us” is a double edged philosophy KG. I understand what you are saying, the principle of it. But that philosophy only works if: 1). We gamers, our actions MUST speak louder than our words. If the game is overly onerous wrt QoL issues, so much that we’ve even considered leaving, then putting ANY time inside that world doesn’t help our cause. 2). Same for money. I promise you Bungie reads ALL the “I’m quitting” posts or “I’m never buying anything Bungie ever again” only to see that guardian immediately log in and play 3 hours a day, for several days in a row. Bottom line, if Bungie works for us, and we don’t force change via our purchases and playtime, then that’s back on us. Ball is in our court, actually it always has been. Few, if any, ppl now are deleting their characters and walking away from the game like I did during CoO. During Curse I was fed up with the focus on Eververse, (among many other issues) as shown in Bungie’s twitch streams, so much so that I just said: “this game ain’t for me anymore” then I deleted all my characters and walked away for months. Until THAT happens, I am not optimistic much will change. To clarify: I’m NOT advocating nor encouraging anybody to either quit/play the game or buy/not buy any Bungie products. Nor to create/delete a character. What I AM advocating for is that each gamer should consider our unique cost benefit analysis wrt our individual playtime inside this world. If our time isn’t TRULY being respected, then it’s up to us to prove the “Bungie works for us” paradigm of thought. It worked almost immediately during Curse of Osiris.
