Iron Banner Discussion (first thoughts)

Lot of Reading Ahead: So the first Iron Banana of the new season has started and while I don’t normally run it, I like to get every piece of gear at least once. So this time it seems at least a bit worth it, plus seven powerful engrams for those fairy simple bounties is very nice. Discussion: As for the balancing and gameplay, how does everyone feel? I know people don’t like control but to me, it’s a classic almost essential for Iron Banner. I haven’t seen a whole lot of Luna or Bygones in my ten matches for the day, which was surprising, but in a good way. I thought Blast Furnace was gonna be making an appearance but not a lot of that either. But maybe you all had different experiences, please share whether it’s positive or you wanting to rant. That’s what forums are for. Negative Feedback: Only thing that got on my bad side was the choice of control maps. Control is a zone holding game type, which means team work is key. However, when given maps that are a bit cramped, you’ll tend to find that power plays occur a bit too often on both teams. It’s not always terrible, since it’s usually just alternating. I just feel like maybe the rotation for a six-player per team playlist should keep the smaller 4v4 maps out. As to kind of increase use of teamwork to get that final zone and not have those quick firefights where all of one team is wiped and the winner gets all three zones before the team can gain footing again. I always felt like Iron Banner was meant to be more like strategic not Comp/Quick with a different loot pool. Positive Feedback: I wanted to save my positive thoughts for last. I really like the new armor set, not too flashy and out there like the last few sets have been. As usual they don’t really bring back that nice vanilla set from Destiny 1 that I miss dearly, but this is still a very good set. Also, really hoping they’ll bring out a Machine gun this season, it’d be a great time to see the old Jolder. I missed the variety in Heavies, so bringing those beauts back is great. It’s better than only seeing Grenade Launchers everywhere. Again, feel free to share feedback on this event. This has gone better than usual for me so I wanted to share. Thanks for reading if you did

  • I've been enjoying it so far. I play with my clan and I've been rocking a new setup because of the impending telesto nerf. (Cue the hate lol) So I've been running Wish Ender and a Main Ingredient with backup plan and targeting adjuster instead. It's been awesome being able to call out precise enemy movements to my team with Wish Ender and if I get into trouble a quick swap to Main Ingredient deals with shotgun apes since I can pretty much immediately pop off a blast. Iron banner takes teamwork and a good loadout strategy, it always has. Anyone that's complaining either doesn't have a strategy, chooses to play alone, or dislikes the small maps (understandably). Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

  • I gotta say it's just not fun. I already hate the 0 skill special ammo spam meta which is the complete opposite of the shit pile we had in year 1 but this iron banner takes the cake and I've played 1.5 games. I refused to finish the second as it was on the dead cliffs, kept getting down killed by a team of 5, spawns are atrocious as usual and I literally don't have time to react. One has Luna's howl, one has not forgotten, all of them chain super and the game doesn't end soon enough, -blam!- that. The first game? The new 'Pantheon'. That map doesn't suit the game anymore. Bungie have not done anything to show that they care since they reversed their terrible decision to -blam!- the entire system in vanilla D2. Since then, connections in PvP have gone from bad to worse, the communication has ceased until 1 week before this expansion and ceased again, this iron banner highlights everything wrong with the game. I want to say I have something positive to say but I don't. It all feels like D1 after TTK. Everyone moved on to develop D3 and didn't mention anything because we don't matter enough. Connections are deteriorating constantly and Bungie have nothing to say about it that actually helps in any way, the dawning is basically just the same as last year with cookies crammed in as a sideshow to make it look like we have something to do when all we have is the same grind as last year, praise Eververse! Bungie don't HAVE to do anything. The money has been given, they've promised nothing at all outside of "content" and they can do whatever they want and use as little effort as they want. I know I went a little off tracks there but what do I think of Iron Banana? It's exactly the same as last season, the season before that and the season before that, etc. Boring, minimal effort shown and worthless. I liked PvP in D1, I adjusted to PvP in Vanilla D2 although I hated it and everyone on the internet praised the new direction for the first few weeks and I've adjusted to this piece of shit meta as well. It's all boring, nothing is new and I'd honestly feel more enjoyment from call of -blam!-ing duty! -drops mic-
