Spectral Blades - Guide to Using the Super Effectively
Step 1: Forget the way that you use Arcstrider and Bladedancer. Spectral Blades is not meant to be used this way. The super requires you to plan your attack carefully rather than rush in aggressively.
Step 2: When you activate the super, you immediately go invisible. When you’re invisible, you can see opponents through walls. The super lasts for up to 25 seconds when invisible so **TAKE YOUR TIME** and plan your attack. Maneuver between walls and obstacles to get to your opponent unnoticed. While you are invisible, you will not show up on the radar.
The biggest advantage of the super is that you can see your opponent but your opponent can’t see you. I can’t stress enough how important it is to keep this in mind.
Once you get to your opponent start hack and slashing. Just keep in mind, the lunge for the attack is not as high as the Arcstrider’s. You need to execute the attack from much closer.
Using the heavy attack will make you invisible again, so use this as a finisher on the last opponent. If there’s enough super energy left, you can start chasing down another opponent.
Last tip: I like to activate Flawless Execution, and then use my super. This way I can see where my opponents are located before popping the super, and have an idea on how to maneuver in.
*The super does have some slight hit registration issues. I’m currently looking at ways to reduce them (i.e when Sentinel Titan hits ppl from the air, the registration is better.)*
I’ll try to make a guide soon on how to have a strong neutral game with this skill tree. The most important to keep in mind though is that you need to constantly take advantage of Flawless Execution for the skill tree to be useful. If you can’t get into habit of crouch shooting, then you’re better off with another subclass.

Drive your knife into a kidney to weaken them then roll into spectral blades and start slashing the hell out of them. There is something I need to test but I am at work for the next few days and won't have time to. I want to see. If you enter flawless execution, slide in and deliver shattering strike to weakn the enemy, and then follow it up in one fluid motion by discharging the tractor cannon damage/void debuff on the boss, and then follow it by triggering spectral blades, if all these damage debuffs stack Now because of the relatively short window of shattering strike, you might not get enough time from combing melee and shotgun like this, and your amount of debuffed strikes lost might be costly, but I want to try this and do the math. Has anyone else attempted this for boss murdering yet? Edit to add: Oh damn can you imagine how awesome this skill set would have been if Khepri's sting was still in the game? Holy crap.

After playing with it for a while crouch shooting isn't that bad. Plus, by taking advantage of bows i have brought up my snipe game by a little bit.

When you get sleepered in the head twice by shots that miss because everyone is on red alert for your ass and there isn't many options for not being seen if people immediately look at the invader spawns

I melee killed one of those guys today. He crept up on me invisible, we traded blows, and I won. Super is trash.

Word of caution on strategy, you already know that hunters are not fully invisible but the warlock helmet called Eye of Another World highlights enemies and the last time I used it in PvP I saw a hunter coming a bit sooner than i normally would have and gunned them down because the helmet caused their invisibility distortion to have a faintly yellow tint to it. Not exactly a huge advantage because I still had to be looking their direction but nonetheless merits mentioning.

8 AntwortenPowerslide headshots also count as crouching and will trigger Flawless Execution, slugthrowing shotguns work well for this like Chaperone or Retold Tale. Otherwise I recommend actually just crouching with a longer range weapon, potentially with Knucklehead to retain radar, then while FE is enabled, close distance to target, and as OP said, then activate SB and go for the kill. Also, You are not entirely invisible on the Motion Tracker. You WILL ping, however the interval is much longer between them, which should allow you to close the gap. However, on top of this, you aren't truly visually invisible either, you have a smokey purple outline which to a trained eye is actually easy to see. I've tested all this in private matches as I've done all the new supers so I make sure I understand how they work. But yes, a shotgun will one shot you, and with the crap hit registration you won't even trade. And forget about dueling super vs. super with any of the other roaming supers, their damage reduction is too high to justify taking them on. (This also sadly results in a lot of panic supers which give them a huge spike in damage reduction and they immediately murder you. *stares at Fist of Havoc*). There are advantages, despite the fact that people can still somewhat see you, if you actually open with a heavy attack, it will OHK a guardian without their super active. Additionally, you'll immediately turn invisible after the kill. The light attack is the one that has the crap hit detection, but since the heavy is a vertical arc, it has a higher chance of actually hitting. Just my observations as well ^^

10 AntwortenHow dare you call the registration issues "slight?" I don't see how you wouldn't advocate a complete overhaul of this cluster. It's terrible. Any advantage that you'd get for being invisible by crouching to finish someone with a headshot is more easily obtained on either other cluster. Both other clusters have a more useful smoke bomb, and shutting down supers and approaches with Deadfall will always be more beneficial than getting a few extremely hard to earn kills with a super that requires most of its time sneaking up on someone. Why sneak when I can use Arc Staff with way of the wind active and tank nearly anything, get kills, and keep going? Why have a cluster about capitalizing on stealth and speed but it doesn't give us stealth unless we perform an action that disengages it and we don't get a sprint speed increase? I challenge you to provide as many reasons to pick this cluster over others as you can. I'll do my best to shut them all down.

3 AntwortenYou're a very good Spectral Blade user. With that being said, I still feel like the hit detection needs improvement and maybe a 3-5 second boost to the duration OR have the R1/RT attack have more of a lung to cover distance better (I'm not asking for Arcstrider type lunge). I agree that this Super requires more planning and patience than any other. And the evidence you present reinforce that when taking both into account it can be more rewarding. But compared to Strider and Barrage it's the less favored one curently.

Thanks for the tips man, I enjoyed playing way of wraith because its kit is fun to use but the super was so frustrating to me. I go in with it and my targets just jump and float and I struggle to hit them. I got so elated a few hours ago because I finally got a triple kill with it. The hit detection is ass with it, I was in intimate space with some of these guys and still did not hit. The best game I had in iron banner was because of the other passive, flawless execution and truesight. But the super is by far the most aggravating part of using wraith, I will try your tips next time I hop on. 😁

1 AntwortenAll good tips to be sure. My tip though. Wait until its buffed. The hit registration on this super is not a "slight" issue, you will ghost through enemies, and swear up and down that you hit someone when they take no damage. This super has no air target registration. People can jump over and above you and you can jump to get them and just glide right by them. This super is also very squishy with little to no armor buff while active. You can not, CAN NOT, challenge another super with this super. Granted going invisible for so long is cool, and allows for some fun flanking.. But other then that, planning doesnt quite happen when in a chaotic 6v6 playlist. For PvE this super can deal quite a bit of damage to adds and bosses, but again the hit registration and ghosting is a serious issue. Bungie needs to get on that hit registration issue to make this super far more viable.. because right now, I am underwhelmed and unimpressed with the performance of the Way of the Wraith. This is just all my opinion, and OPs tips are all very good.

4 AntwortenThanks for the work you put into this guide. I badly want to enjoy way of the wraith but it just requires too much for too little payoff. Maybe a passive boost to movement speed while crouched would help. Allowing Shattering Strike to proc on melee ability hits would also be amazing.

Sure it may not be as good as arcstrider when it comes to slaughtering guardians, but specteral blades is amazing at what it does. EDIT: Damn bro the amount of skill required in here is much higher than other subtrees. Makes me want to main the spectral blade hunter because of that.

My tip: bring back Bladedancer. Oh, also Sunsinger and Defender. Yeah that's important, too, I guess.

I still think it needs a buff. I killed a spectral blades hunter with normal melee hits because he kept just going through me. I'm a titan main btw.

Nicely put. Too many people underestimate the usefulness of invisibility in pvp, being off radar is huge when it comes to executing planned attacks.

[b]2.)[/b] Activate Bladedancer [i](it's a void Arc Blade, IDC)[/i] when surrounded. [b]3.)[/b] Mix up attacks. Quick attack followed by power attack kills without the worry of hit registration going crazy. It also makes you invisible for the next kill. [b]4.)[/b] The aerial power attack is [i](so far)[/i] a one hitter quitter in PVP. Use it.
