Hi Bungie,
I recently noticed that on the PC version of Destiny 2 is possible, for Titans and Warlocks, to use their Class Ability while sprinting, and the result is an extremely cool animation of them putting their Barricade / Rift while sliding.
THE PROBLEM
Well, this is quite impossible to do on Playstation and Xbox (to be honest I found a way, but it's extremely inconsistent). I tried it many times, but I assume that because on Console we have the Crouch and Class Ability commands mapped on the same button (Short Press for Crouch, Long Press for Barricade / Rift), every time I Long Press that button while sprinting to use my Class Ability I simply slide instead, and the Cast animation starts only when I stop sliding, resulting in a regular Barricade / Rift Cast.
I know it may sound silly, but that Sprint-Cast is really nice to see, it can be very useful, and it maintains the momentum of the action. I would love to be able to do that also on Console.
MY ADVICE
I'm not a developer, but the least I can do now is trying to help saying how I would fix it:
- Easy way: give Console Players the opportunity to remap the Class Ability command to let the game know when we want to Sprint-Cast our Barricade / Rift instead of simply sliding.
- Best Way (in my opinion): let the Sprint-Cast be activated also when sliding (after all the animation is really similar to a slide), or at least for the first moments, just to trigger the Long Press command (this way you would also prevent it from extending the slide distance).
Please Bungie, i know it may not sound as a priority, but the Class Ability is something that every single Guardian use hundreds of times every day, and this would be an extremely cool improvement in our Gaming Experience.
Thank you Bungie,
a Fellow Guardian

If you play on Console you deserve what you get. Its 2018 and console plebs still think they're getting a good deal having to pay for online multiplayer, trash controls, and sub 30fps gameplay.
