The first paragraph finally gives us a proper explanation as to why we didn't have our D1 gear in the intro to D2
"It was a day that was supposed to be a celebration of our past glories. The anniversary of Six Fronts — the victory that united the City and gave us the Vanguard. Guardians donned ceremonial armor to commemorate the event, and gathered for a rousing speech by the Speaker. Then everything came apart when the Red Legion struck."

I always sort of assumed that our Guardian was wearing ceremonial garbs on account of the D2 banner having a bunch of Titans and a Hunter wearing the starting gear together and marking in what looks like a parade as well as the fact that the armor emphasizes the Class very greatly. D2 probably should have started with an in game cutscene with us marching in this celebration, or at least started the cinematic cutscene with Cayde looking down at the ceremony from the tower with emphasis on a specific guardian with their helmet on, implying that it was us. I still wonder why they had us start on our ship coming into the City and not have us start in the City streets, fighting the Cabal and protecting our people and slowly working our way up to the Tower. Personally, I think that would have been better, but that's just my opinion. What does a Kell know anyways?

Has nobody seen READY PLAYER ONE? I play this game with how that movie handles Inventory and Items, Weapons, Vehicles and Armor. Watch that Amazing movie.
-
Yeah but you know what this doesn't explain? Why the -blam!- were we not in the city when Ghaul attacked? Shouldn't we have been there, especially if there's a ceremony for The Battle of Six Fronts? Makes no sense.
It was a day that was supposed to be a celebration of our past glories. The anniversary of Six Fronts — the victory that united the City and gave us the Vanguard.
Bungie this is bull**** and you know it. We all know that the grimoire of the past is folklore. Yet when it's convenient for you to canonize it when you need to and to discard it when it's not is beyond confusing and frustrating as a narritive driven player. Have it one way or another. Are the tales of old, canon or not, yes or no?
Guardians donned ceremonial armor to commemorate the event, and gathered for a rousing speech by the Speaker.
Woah, woah, woah, what is all this and that about head canon? I didn't put a damn thing on my guardian, then out of nowhere he is wearing ceremonial garb. I didn't make that choice to wear it Bungie did. Oh and what speech? I didn't hear a single word from him kinda ironic since he's you know, the speaker. Why was it away from the city? I thought that "where the Guardians live, is the last safe city on Earth"? Apparently not since this "rousing speech" occured outside the walls of the city. Bungie is it really so hard to tell a coherent story? No need to answer that last one we all know.

Everything changed when the fire nation attacked.
-
Makes no sense... if there was a celebration, why were the three vanguards just idling around in the Vanguard Hall? Wouldnt they have been out preparing for the celebration? And it was raining.. who plans a celebration when it might rain.. Doesnt make sense, so nope.. dont believe it.

Bearbeitet von justin_giver: 7/17/2018 6:11:53 PMlol except that if it was in our vault, that vault is not a physical storage but, more like a replicator from Star Trek.. So we should have been able to go to the reef (not farm as previously written) and use those ones and create new ones elsewhere, like in the tower we now use, to continue using our past earned gear.
-
So your saying our Guardians we're going to a Celebration by leaving thier Best Ship which could have held roughly 10 Weapons and some armor.. behind? If I am going to celebrate and be in a parade, I am bringing my Trophies that I aquired from my adventures. I would have had, Mythocloast, Necrocasm and Ghorn with me in my Oryx Bone Ship.
-
Because we suddenly lost all data required to turn Glimmer into things we previously owned? Right.
-
Bearbeitet von DrPhilaBole: 7/17/2018 6:03:57 PMwe already had confirmation as to why …. Bungie told us in the very first reveal of the new "annual pass" why it happened, it's right there in TWaB from 6/7/18 " new and returning exotics"
-
man you are looking for shapes on shadows... we didnt have our gear due to lazy cooding, and more likely cut content for future dlcs $$$
-
So in lore you’re saying Six Fronts anniversary is the same day as the Red Legion attack
-
That explains nothing. Ghost should be able to transmat our D1 gear!
-
Oh look, I found the answer here in my wallet.
-
They totally didn't pull that one straight out of their ass.
-
Bearbeitet von Smough: 7/18/2018 4:20:43 AMI thought this was already known since launch? Now it’s just more obvious what happened.
-
It would have been faster to go to the reef and back with jellyhorn equipped. It takes me less than 5 minutes to do dat
-
So...everyone who kept their Shattered Ceremonial armor in the vault will just get a straight, zero-grind bump to max level and max light, right? Because we were thinking ahead, and we definitely deserve a reward for that. Right?
-
There is a big Plot Hole in that though: If we were celebrating with the City, then why were we miles away from it?
-
This goes very well with the parade concept art we saw early on. The problem is our Guardian is flying in from somewhere. The first mission would of been so much better if it started in Midtown and we had to fight our way up. Just saying.
-
I'm not sure where to post this but I found the objectives to upgrade the [armory]Solstice[/armory] armor.
-
So....... why were we flying?
-
Seriously I am dying to know what goes through their heads sometimes, this celebration should have started off the game and if not this then zavala's little trailer that preceded the may reveal of destiny 2 last could have as well.
-
I really really like that explanation, for some reason.
-
This is what I had always assumed. We had been given this lucious Armor as a means of celebrating something. It appears I was correct :)
-
I was wondering wtf the parade was about. Upset we dont get to see some of this stuff ingame. WHAT A -blam!-ING SHAME
