Any tips?
Keep in mind that this will be my first PC ever.

Just curious how is going with the build??
-
Good build, but I might wait until the 11 or 20 series is released. Rumor has it they should come out by the end of this year.

With a little looking around you could go with a ryzen 1600 for a little over 100$ granted it wont clock as high as the 8600k but you can always upgrade the ryzen 1600 at later point without the need of a new motherboard The 1060 solid card but still 300$ for a card thats way over a year old just sucks how that part of the market is atm but if you can wait it out or find a cheap GPU second hand to wait out the new gen cards go for that Current gen gpu prices are still inflated sure some are coming down to msrp but most shouldve been below according to their life cycle The main thing is when the new cards launch you can get one at msrp if your one of the first onboard The storage its ok but i would go for a bigger bootdrive 240gb is currently good but in 2 years orso it wont be enough probably sure it will cost more but most of the time the price per GB goes down Maybe look into NVMe drives in general those have better speeds than an regular SSD But most important thing for either intel or amd keep the bios up to date spectre sucks... But im gonna build a pc soon too Going with B350 + ryzen 1600 to wait out for ryzen 7nm and the next gen GPUs Little advantage for me is that my parents want a new pc next year so they will buy the CPU, GPU, ram and motherboard when i get the new stuff lol

go to partpickers frontpage and then check the build guides. they offer builds for almost all budgets that are imo very good.

If my budget had been more limited, this is close to what I would have built last summer. 32 gigs of RAM still seems pretty future proof a year later.

What is your budget? What other needs do you have for your desktop other than gaming (streaming, video encoding, etc.)?
I built my first rig last November. I wanted a PC that could function as both a gaming rig and a workstation. It was very enjoyable to build. Even though I had a lot of trouble overclocking my cpu and RAM, I enjoyed every moment of it. Below is the parts list for my own build. I had a $2k budget. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/CozymanCam/saved/pprm8d
My work is building me a rig like this to do 6K video editing in premiere pro. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/skcBTB That doesn’t even include the 2 UHD monitors Sad thing is, I won’t be able to game on it.

I would go with Ryzen but that's just me.

Seems good enough. It is really similar to my pc, which can run most games at 60fps+ at highest settings. Your processor is slightly better than mine. (I have an i5-8400 :))
