Part of the amazingly visceral feel of your game is the way AI react. I really appreciate their big “western movie style” reeling and staggering when struck and the rest of the AI’s performances. It’s just like the feel of movement and combat in your games in that it’s unmatched by any other game of it’s type. The new Last Of Us looks to be incredible in this area but on a much, much smaller scale. In a game on the scale of Destiny 2 the range and quality of performances from the beautifully drawn enemies is next-level and your games have been way ahead of their peers in this way since HaloCE. The way an enemy reacts when it notices me, the way a Captain might roar his challenge to me, the celebrations they sometimes make if they are victorious, their lifelike retreat from my overwhelming force... all of these performances and many, many more enhance my experience and they have a big range of reactions to each situation too. I’ve only mentioned a small portion but it should be said also that it isn’t just the enemies appearance, actions and reactions but the choices of acting style you’ve made. Such a huge part of the appeal and while it seems to go rarely mentioned, I’m sure it enhances the experience for many who seem to not even realise it. Your AI have real characters and while I might hear a younger gamer give harsh criticism when he sees AI blink about due to lag or say that an enemy is stupid for his theatrical roaring because it gives the player time to kill him, I get that lag is just a thing and I massively appreciate the acting choices you’ve made because they add fantastic atmosphere and give me the opportunity to react with my own flourish. It’s incredible and so far ahead of any other comparable game that it is incredible to me that it isn’t talked about more. Really awesome dudes.
