The secret pattern to returning exotics from Destiny 1 to 2

Ever since Destiny 2 was released, we have been provided with a whole new library of unique Legendary an Exotic gear and weaponry, along with a couple of old exotics making a return. Most of you have been asking throughout the forums, "Where is the <insert incredibly popular exotic here>?" "When should we expect more of our favourite exotics from Destiny 1 to return?" I do not have a proper, direct answer to that, for I am not Bungie. But I can provide you with something you may or may not have known in terms of the pattern of returning exotics. If you did not know, a couple of the exotics that returned came back based on the focus of the game's expansions. If an expansion has a strong focus on a certain enemy type, setting or similarity to anything from Destiny 1 they bring back some exotics from Destiny 1 based on the game's, its expansions' or a certain quest's focus on these kinds of things. I will provide for you one example from each of the expansions that have come out for Destiny 2. The First Expansion-- Curse of Osiris-- focused on the Vex-- similar to Destiny 1's focus on the Vex with Vault of Glass, and one of the exotics that came back from that to the expansion was the Helm of Saint-14, which recieved minor changes in the expansion. The Second Expansion-- Warmind-- focused on the Hive, the Clovis Bray facility and Rasputin. While Destiny 1's first large-scale expansion-- The Taken King-- focused on the Taken and a little bit on the Hive, there was one quest which took place in Rasputin's Vault in the Cosmodrome, and it involved a Hive "Puzzle" to get through a step of the quest required to earn the Sleeper Simulant. This weapon returned in the second expansion possibly because of its similarity to that quest from The Taken King, along with the setting. It is a pattern that very few people have noticed-- yes, I mean very few-- including myself. Destiny 2 "Vanilla" brought back some exotics when it was released, but because there wasn't very much to connect a past quest, event, location, expansion or anything with its focus on the Cabal, some of the exotics that may have just been a possible unlock from an Exotic Engram (Examples: SUROS Regime, Eternal Warrior, The Armamanterium, Celestial Nighthawk, Lucky Raspberry, etc.), rather than an event-unlocked or quest-unlocked exotic. Before you criticize my theory, know that I'm not entirely sure if this is true or not, because I am not Bungie, nor do I work at Bungie. I don't know everything that goes on behind closed doors. I just go by what I know, what I see and what I believe is true. Everything that I have written down here about my theory-- I am not the one to judge whether or not it is true, but I find the fact that it may or may not be a coincidence to be very interesting. My interest in this is, of course, only a theory that I just came up with an hour ago, so I am willing to dicuss it in the comment section. To all of you who took the time to read this, have a wonderful day. ~stygames2
