So i've been thinking about this this morning, but the only real grind currently in the game seems to be for power gains (and a few exotic weapons/masterworks)
But what if we had an exotic mod system where additional perks were attached to mods? These mods would drop from endgame activities and milestones with a very small chance to be attached to legendary/exotic weapons and armour.
Like legendary mods these would give +5 to power, along with a perk in the case of armour mods, or damage type in the case of weapon mods. But in addition these would also give a randomly rolled perk attached to the mod that would give the piece of gear an additional perk.
Perks could include
"Birthday Party" - headshot kills cause enemies to explode (just like the grunt birthday party skull from halo)
"Hive toxins" - basic poison damage addition
"Reflective shielding" - Only available on titan marks, blocking with Sentinel shield deflects projectile attacks back at their attackers.
Just really go all out on weird and wonderful perk possibilities, even if they have to be nerfed/disabled for crucible.
In addition to this there would be special perks only available on exotic mods dropped in the raids.
TL:DR - Exotic mods drop from endgame activities add an extra randomly rolled weapon/armour perk, allowing for a fun grind to extra customisation of your loadout.

aaah..... I got a few "perks" Anti Perks for Jerks ORGBASM - Using the "Hold On Emote" in a PE / EP / HS generates a flood of Orbs as your Ghost say "Aaaaaaah...." Picking up these orbs gives you the Fap Fap emote - once Emote is activated, your character is locked in "emote state" for 60 minutes on the tower.
I bet you you read ORBGASM.... and not ORG BASM - if not... Good for you.
REPEAT OFFENDER - Melee an Enemy from Behind to cause the other enemies to flee in Fear (for 5 Seconds, don't want it to get awkward) (the bigger the group of enemies the longer the effect) - these smaller enemies will return with a larger, significantly more powerful enemy. defeat that enemy with melee to unlock 2 blues and no tokens. CLOCKWORK ORANGE - Cutting down Mobs of Enemies with a sword of any kind in the crucible gives you a Luminescent Emote that covers your whole body. you also show up on enemy radars as a big orange dot until the Match ends. (think of Tron.... just... more Popcorn Emote). BITING THE HAND - Killing enemies in Crucible with the Colony, gives you more XP and Glimmer and Returns Power ammo to the Magazine. This Perk also has a 96% chance of that the Colony grenades turn on the wielder. once killed by your own colony, the remainder of the grenades will wait until you respawn and track you relentlessly around the map. once killed by all your own grenades. you generate one brown orb. and lose all your shit. WHAT A PHALLUS - this is Activated on Escalation Protocol and Heroic Strikes - Activating an EP during a PE or Quitting at the Boss on a Heroic locks you into that activity (yes, we can see you pop up your Ghost you Dumb FK). this also locks your account until that activity is completed. this also prevents any other game from being played, or installed as switching on your Console automatically Loads you back to where you left off)

What an awesome idea. Sad that they’ll just nerf fusion rifles.

Yes to have grunt birthday party on everything would be the best

Exotic mods are a must imo. This would be a perfect supportive gameplay loop to make the grind interesting again!
