Weird Weapon Idea..

Good Idea.

Bad Idea.

Reasonable, but needs work.

I'm really liking the idea of putting shotty/sniper/fusion rifles back in their rightful place of secondary. But why stop there? Bungie has created an interesting new weapon system, but it lacks finesse. Hear me out: The current state: Kinetic: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/SMG Energy: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/SMG Power: Fusion Rifle/Rockets/Grenade Launcher/Sword/Snipers/Shotgun My idea: Kinetic: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/Snipers/Shotgun/SMG Power: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/Fusion Rifle(?)/Snipers/Shotgun/SMG Heavy: Rockets/Grenade Launcher/Sword/Machine Gun/Fusion Rifle(?) Now, before you cry unfairness, keep in mind this would greatly benefit weapon freedom. Suddenly there are way more choices for your loadouts. Wanna be a sole long range support? Double up on snipers. Wanna be a CQC rampaging beast? Dual shotties would be interesting.. Of course, doubling up on weapons would not be wise at all. Utilizing each weapon to compliment one another would be more ideal. I.E. Shotty/SMG, Sniper/Scout Before you cry unbalanced, keep in mind that you can do this, too. But know that there may be someone out there who can and will outgun you (Just like now, or even back in D1...). This isn't a 'godmode' complex that players would be given. Is someone annoying you with a kinetic/power sniper in the back of the map? You bet I'll be swapping my scout for my own sniper to pick him off. Utilizing the freedom to switch weapons at will would push the intensity of PvP matches. It would create efficient and maybe even better PvE builds, too. Question: How do we prevent people from popping a tent in the ground, sniping religiously? Well, sniper mags would still be the same. You may get 6-10 rounds, excluding any armor that'd increase ammo (I'm thinking of armor from D1..) Players in PvP would drop any ammo they held onto in their moments of glory on death. Once they respawn? They receive a smaller, but effiecent base ammo amount. Need ammo? Your source will be the enemy, or the occasional crate (that will give a few rounds - not max). If for some reason ammo doesn't flow like a rushing river, Bungie could easily implement a change where teammates can see their fallen allies drop ammo, too. That way, if you jump into a match and a team is hoarding the ammo, which I highly doubt that'd ever be a problem, at least you're getting a fill off of your pals. And then of course there's the heavy slot, for intentional mayhem. Keep it D2 style, unless for some odd reason it needs changed. I honestly feel that'd greatly help with the staleness and maybe even bring back more fun into the game. I've posted a poll to accurately sum up the yays, or nays of this feature. I figure if this post ends up being worth anything, Bungie could at least take a look at a proper scale, rather than tallying positive comments. So what do you think? Good idea, bad idea, or needs work? TL;DR?
The current state: Kinetic: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/SMG Energy: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/SMG Power: Fusion Rifle/Rockets/Grenade Launcher/Sword/Snipers/Shotgun My idea: Kinetic: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/Snipers/Shotgun/SMG Power: Auto Rifle/Hand Cannon/Sidearm/Scouts/Pulses/Fusion Rifle(?)/Snipers/Shotgun/SMG Heavy: Rockets/Grenade Launcher/Sword/Machine Gun/Fusion Rifle(?) If you're worried about logistics, well, give it a read..
