  • Not factoring in grenades, there were over two thousand ways you could customize each subclass, from what I saw on the Bladedancer page. Seven different sets of three choices, and 3^7 = 2187. Now, we're reduced to TWO. From TWO FRICKIN' THOUSAND, we're down to [u]TWO!! [/u] Net reduction in options: 99.91% Sequels are supposed to offer more options, more freedom, more ways to play.       We still get choice of Class ability, jump, and grenade. That leaves the equivalent of four D1 columns that could be chosen, one which was Super variation. The choice in D2 is usually between Super or melee/grenade augmentation. That is intended so that players make a conscious decision what strengths they want to play to rather than pick the single best skill in every column. You can have choice but none of the setups in D1 had the synergy that is found in D2's fixed skill trees. Yes, we had "choice" in D1 but now it's a choice of going all in on your Super or neutral game.

    • What you don't like the....subclasses model? You want customization of some kind? Dont you know that leads to some people being stronger than others based upon their intelligence? It takes so long to update anything in their "new engine" that we will never see anything like this.

      • I want a more indepth customizable skill tree than in D1, and I want for every expansion they get expanded upon like any MMO worth a grain of salt.

        • I want the ability of choice that the D1 that one had with skill trees but I want the abilities to be strong like they are in D2 (for the most part).

        • I thought the D1 skill trees were restrictive and weak but D2's are over-the-top casual. Honestly don't believe Bungie's management staff gives a crap either way. All they hear is nerf fusion rifles and shop Eververse! 🙄

          Not gonna happen for two reasons. #1 reintroducing a system that they thought was a good idea to remove would be an explicit admission of failure. This is the same reason they wont bring back random rolls. #2 making content is too hard for Bungie.

        • Put Mobility/Armor/Recovery adjustments back in the skill tree where they belong, and give armor real perks again.

          • This is an alt account and what I found sad yesterday was that playing through the Osiris missions on my Hunter (Nightstalker 280 ish light) I didn't use any abilities or super through the whole campaign. I had my Mida and Perseverance before Ikora gave me Positive Outlook and a sword (highest light power weapon) and just shot things. I could have been any class or subclass; wouldn't have mattered in the slightest. The distinctions and unique attributes of each class are completed neutered to the point of pointlessness in D2. Where's my Gunslingers Trance and Chain of Woe combo, Throwing Knives and Monte Carlo, Obsidian Mind and Bad Juju/Zhalo etc. Personally I blame the PvP whingers for crying about every unique and distinct attribute, claiming it was 'unfair' (or in their words 'frustrating') for the snore-fest we have now. Whole subclasses nerfstroyed in D1 - a la Sunsinger, BladeDancer etc. Frustrated by Shadestep: learn to counter it, it was on a -blam!-ing cool-down at least, don't moan like a five year old about it on the forums ffs. Very few things in D1 were objectively OP - shoulder charge no cool-down was stupid - but the last thing we should've asked for was to remove them for this.

            • I will not buy a Destiny product again until customization is at least at a D1 level. Luke Smith admitted that this game was dumbed down so that a child could understand it. How insulting. No offense to the people who like the change, but dang. Couldn’t you all just stick to Halo, CoD, or some other generic shooter? Bungie- not sure why you catered to a crowd of people who will leave this game high and dry each time a CoD game comes out, but I guess you’ll go wherever you think the money is. Take an upvote, op. Hopefully Bungie changes course, but I wouldn’t count on it.

                D1's Skill Trees need to be the bare minimum of options, but a revamp is much due. Example: [u][b]Class Tree[/b][/u] [i]Titan/Warlock/Hunter[/i] Nodes that are directed toward stats like Intellect, Discipline and Strength as well as respective Class Abilities such as [i]Shadestep, Rift and Barrier[/i]. [u]Example Perks[/u]: [i]Keen Scout, Scavenger & Quickdraw[/i] for Hunters. *I feel all classes should have perks like these and more to choose from, as this would become a general change for all classes without the need to stick to one Sub-class. [u][b]Sub-class Tree[/b][/u] [i]Solar/Arc/Void[/i] Nodes that are directed toward stats pertaining to Special Abilities depending on Form. [u]Example Perks[/u]: [i]Courage of the Pack, Light of the Pack & Lockdown[/i] for Nightstalker. *Basic perks - grenades, melee and super - can be unlocked by experience while Advanced perks - Sub-class ability alterations - are available after completing specific challenges, i.e, perks that pertain to Super alterations - such as Blackhole, Bloodbound and Quiver- require 'X' amount of Super kills, orb drops, enemies tethered, etc. Each requirement unique to it's own perk. [u][b]Gear Tree[/b][/u] [i]Helmet/Chest/Gauntlets/Boots[/i] Nodes that determine Armor, Recovery and Agility. Priority of significance in performance as well as what category each node correlates to is essential to fixing this system. With my examples above, it is evident I moved certain nodes to other sectors, as I feel they respectively belong in other areas that make more sense. For example: NIGHTSTALKER Hunter Sub-class [quote][b][u]Smoke[/u][/b] Envenomed: [i]Adds a toxin that damages enemies within Smoke.[/i] Vanish In Smoke: [i]You and allies near Smoke explosions vanish from sight.[/i] Snare: [i]Allows Smoke to stick to surfaces, detonating when enemies are near[/i][/quote] We all know the above example is what is available in D1. My issue with this in particular are two things: 1) The description for Envenomed is not entirely accurate. 2) Snare doesn't seem suitable to rival the other two nodes. Envenomed not only applies an AOE that hurts HP but [i]also[/i] staggers the victim. Not only is this false advertising, it is also the most popular choice among Nightstalkers in PvP. Others Vanish In Smoke while very few actually Snare their smoke 'nades. This becomes a problem with diversity due to Snare's weak rivalry in terms of performance. Smoke nades sticking to surfaces should be a feature available by means of a node like Predator; and yes, although I main a Hunter, I've always felt the wombo combo was broken, but due to the stagger. How would I fix it? Like this: NIGHTSTALKER Hunter Sub-class [quote][b][u]Smoke[/u][/b] Envenomed: [i]Adds a toxin that damages enemies within Smoke.[/i] Vanish In Smoke: [i]You and allies near Smoke explosions vanish from sight.[/i] [b]Snare: [i]Staggers enemies trapped in the smoke radius[/i][/b][/quote] I feel this change would make [i]all[/i] Smoke grenades a viable option. This is just one example of tweaking Skill Tree nodes, but with the rest stated above, it is evident how many more options we can have in terms of quality as much as quantity. It's hard for a game to get stale when there's so many things to offer, but it's even more difficult for a game to get dull when what is available is too good to pass up. Every DLC has the potential to add another set of nodes to classes, sub-classes or even completely new sub-classes! Apply random rolls and a Masterwork/Crafting system that is detailed and significant and we'll have a much better experience with the game, to name a few things lol. That's how I would do it, anyway.

                  I definitely agree with you on this topic, with the way that it's going now you can't build certain builds and it's rather quite annoying how you can only choose between 2 preset builds.

                  • I don't know that Destiny 1's skill system qualifies as a "tree." Anyway, I do think the subclasses need some love. I like the idea of packaged builds, but we also need a little bit of customization in there. Maybe give each build a choice of three perks that each have fairly sweeping passive effects, so you can specialize in a specific aspect of your build a bit more. Honestly though, I think the biggest impediment to creating a compelling build in Destiny 2 is the lack of meaningful exotics and the slow recharge time on powers. It waters everything down to pretty much just guns, and maybe your class ability.

                    • I want Bladedancer, Sunsinger, and Defender back. The only one that actually improved on the original is the Sentinel, and I can tell that just from watching it. But the other new ones are....meh. [spoiler]Seriously why is everyone against Bladedancer coming back? Cut the class some slack and just call for it. People have no idea how fun that class really is.[/spoiler]

                    • One of the most requested things in this game and nothing but silence from Bungie on it. Methinks that they're going to release some form of subclass customization with the Fall expansion and sell it to us as "new content" for $40. I'm willing to bet a lot of those customization options are just going to be abilities we had in D1 such as Death From Above.

                      • Maybe instead of the old skill trees you add a third block, but you can select the individual squares. This allows for more interesting skill combinations.
