(list in chronological story order)
What is, for any reason at all, your favorite main series Halo game?
For me I'm all about the story missions. I decided to do a main series Halo marathon from Reach to 5 in story order and just finished Reach the other night. I remembered liking Reach a lot but I forgot just how good it was. I can't really find anything bad to say about it, Reach is in my opinion the masterpiece of the Halo series. But what do you guys think?
Fun trick for anyone who feels like returning to the Reach campaign, I remember discovering this myself back in the day, pretty sure I'm the only that knows this. Do you remember that orbital targeter you get early on in the second mission, ONI Swordbase? It only has two charges which can call down an orbital strike on the target location. Most people assume they are meant to take out the 2 Wraiths down the hill, 1 charge 1 wraith. However I discovered that if you only use one charge per location (Wraiths, anti-air gun, communications relay, etc) you can reuse the targeter throughout the entire mission. Enjoy raining hell on that Phantom at the end.
EDIT: Interesting spread so far. While there are some clear front runners it looks like each one has something to be appreciated.

My favorite was reach, each spartan (except kat) went out like a boss.

Bearbeitet von TonyPartridge30: 2/27/2018 8:49:58 PMReach and ODST are spinoffs. Just because they are in the same genre as Halo 1-5 doesn’t mean they aren’t spinoffs.

Halo CE, but screw the anniversary edition. OG graphics or bust you mafk.
-
Halo 3 all the way. It introduced me to the FPS genre, so I give it a lot of credit.
-
Reach was the one that introduced me to fps games, I still play it.

WHY is classic halo 2 not on the list
-
Probably Halo 3, and it's not just any one aspect that made it great. Everything about the game, from the Campaign to the multiplayer, the music, and even the way it launched felt big and their was a sense of finality to everything.
-
I really liked ODST though.
-
I saw this and told myself "Please let there not be very many votes for Reach, God!" and there are. Seeing that makes me so angry every time.

Halo 2 and Halo 4
-
2 for campaign 3 and 5 tie for multiplayer 5 for customs and forge
-
4 is the only Halo where I've liked all parts (campaign, multiplayer, etc.)
-
Combat evolved. It's where my journey started and I still play it more than any other halo. It nails everything a halo game should be.
-
Combat evolved is my favourite of the series. Ever since 2002, I have played many days worth of it. I find it is the best in terms of mystery, aesthetic, and replayability. I think that the look of the game and it's graphics are still good to this day. Extremely dated, but good. The soundtrack is still my favourite.
Under the Cover of Night
is an amazing track. I find that every halo game is good, some better than others of course. But my first entry into a series, that at the time I started was the system seller and the only one of the series, is still my favourite.

I wouldn't consider Reach and ODST to be main games. They're important to the story but they're not part of the Master Chief saga (although TFOR is). Regardless, CE has my favorite multiplayer and Halo 2 has the best campaign. As fun as Halo 3 is, its story is just bad and its maps are a mixed bag.

Halo 3 for nostalgic reasons and thousands of hours played. But recently 5 definitely has my favorite multiplayer out of all the games. And the campaign I actually enjoyed. The only multiplayer I didn't like was reach. The dmr was so annoying to me. And campaign wise I didn't care for halo CE or 4.

I’m split. Bear in mind, I only really care about campaign (and Spartan Ops). My favorite one story wise is Halo 2, in no small part because I love the Arbiter, but I’m mot a fan of the over the top difficulty on Legendary. Halo 5 has my favorite weapons (the revamped Forerunner stuff [and the Covie Carb]), but I don’t like the squad mechanics. I really liked 4’s Spartan Ops. While I agree with the majority that loadouts in multiplayer were annoying, I really liked being able to do a sort of “secondary campaign”, where you could start with any weapons you wanted. And I liked being my own character in Reach, but they didn’t have the Covenant Carbine. Needle Rifle was no replacement for my favorite weapon! I think I’ll have to say ODST. I always love the “hub world” style of level select (open world level select to linear levels), and I really liled the Superintendent as a character. Though there sadly weren’t any Forerunner weapons yet, I did still have my Covie Carb. Though, I wouldn’t ne surprised if this answer changed.

Halo 3 is the best all around for me.
Reach is in my opinion the masterpiece of the Halo series
Reach, but only because of its features that make the game truly endless. Campaign sucked in my opinion. Halo 3 would have won it had it had Reach's Forge, Firefight and endless file saves.
-
I’ve always loved halo 3 and reach.
-
Campaign wise: CE Multiplayer: 2

<It's really difficult to choose between Halo 2 and Halo 3... but I chose 3.>
