Critical review of Destiny 2's economy.

To preface this review I'd like to start by thanking the staff at Bungie for the work that went into the making of Destiny 2. The art is cannon and of great quality, it has been implemented as seamlessly as it gets. The gameplay and other engineering aspects of the game are solid and very well optimised. EG: Very few loading screens and for my part no freezes, crashes or excessive fps drops on console. The UI is just neat. It just works. It's simple and familiar. Nevertheless the endgame feels like it could use some adjustments. Firstly, exotics. Since the removal of Exotic Shards and because of the high number of duplicates one will get and despite the fact that they appear to drop more frequently than in Destiny 1. They feel less exciting. Indeed, one could get an exotic engram, hoping to complete their collection they then immediately fly to the social space to get their well deserved loot only to discover that it's a dupe. The problem arises at this point. Destiny 1 used to grant the player an exotic shard which was as rare as exotic engrams themselves and were an absolute necessity to upgrade one's favorite piece of gear to a higher level. While now they can be dismantled for some legendary shard which are themselves of LEGENDARY rarity, not exotic and gunsmith material which is uncommon. Basically if you didn't get what you wanted from the engram you got nothing. Secondly, bright engrams. One could argue that they are NOT even engrams! What's up with that? Indeed you cannot receive one of those engrams by completing a specific quest or killing a specific enemy. Instead the only way to acquire them is through leveling up. It doesn't feel like a loot drop, it doesn't feel like an engram, it doesn't feel exciting. It feels like a timed reminder that you can buy more from Tess. Finally, shaders. The most interesting shaders, the legendary ones can for the most only be found in the aforementioned bright "engrams". It feels like a slap in the face since they are consumables and that you only get THREE per bright "engram". Also missing is chroma gear… That was pretty cool and I think shaders should drop more often and the rare consumable you only get a few of from bright engrams should be chroma. To conclude I'd like to say that I don't expect to see changes tomorrow but that I think it's reasonable for it to be in the pipes for season 3 or 4 (or 7 ). Thank you for your time.
