Does the Destiny Franchise Need a Fourth Gaurdian class?

Despite the terrible state the franchise is in right now, I can't help but wonder what other type of class can complete the Gaurdian Sigil Shield. We have the Hunter( Rouge, Mercenary, Assassin) the Titan ( Space Marine, Tank, First Guardian class) and the Warlocks ( Space Wizards)...are we missing someone?

  • How about a summoner class? A guardian that's in tune with the natural world like a druid or wrangler. This class' super would summon a beast (different one for each subclass) that rampages about. Ability wise this class would be more team oriented.

    The current three already embody the primary "hero" archetypes. As such however some don't do well at representing them. Hunters: Everything from Rogue to Ranger, Scout to Skirmisher. Mobility focused and Marksman-like. >>Could use more tracking to fulfill Ranger or Scout like profiles. To clarify- marking enemies for [i]all allies[/i] not just themselves. >>More poison application for Rogueish roles. The option of a poisonous smoke grenade is a start, but a Nightstalker with a poisoned blade when smoke is in CD would be a nice touch. >>Generally need superior Mobility. It could come as greater mantling grab range and speed, static buff to slide range, or decently greater base sprint speed. >>Need greater precision hit bonuses across every subclass, not solely for a Gunslinger to reduce super CD. Could come as a minor precision damage modifier, or greater Range with "precision" weapons. Titan: The Tank, Soldier, Champion, Defender, Warden, Brawler. Heavily armored and a heavy hitter. >>[b]Needs[/b] greater base Resilience and/or additional benefits from the stat from reduced flinch to damage reduction. >>Their defensive abilities need to resolve less around direct attacks and more on direct action. Bring the focus to aiding an Ally instead of hoping one is close enough when you punch a thrall for an Overshield. >>Currently they have a lackluster melee (along with everyone else). I can only imagine that a Titan's fist would be the last thing anyone would want to see. A buff to normal melee damage would not go amiss. >>Weapon skills are what sets a Soldier apart from other classes on the battlefield. A bonus to secondary stats like handling and stability would be good to help fulfill this. Warlock: the Caster. Call it a Wizard or a Sorcerer. Does not fully represent other casters like a Cleric or Priest. >>Needs a "healer" option or at least a better laid subset of abilities outside of Rifts. Again, direct aid of allies from Autoheals, to HoTs, to quick rez to fill the Healer void. >>Supposed to be the Caster, yet class abilities are on the same CD as all others. Needs better CD times. >>Stereotypically not the best with weapons, so a minor decrease in range, stability, and/or handling would help represent this and offset their theorized faster ability CDs. >>A Caster is usually known for their having multiple spells up their sleeve. Warlocks currently have just the same two everyone else does: a grenade and melee. Having variations per subclass from "hold for X different effect" to the ability to swap a gun out for Caster Equipment (staves, wands, rods, whatever) to further increase their "spell list" would also be a nice touch. In short: all class stereotypes are covered through the three classes and their three respective subclasses, but they are effectively poorly emplamented leaving gaps and making all Guardians essentially the same. Only minor variations hint at role differentiation. "Balance" (PvP being the accused) has ruined and will likely continue to ruin any true differentiation.

  • Maybe once they get their collective heads out of heir asses and fix the parts of the game we already have... I would like to see a class where at least one tree has a focus on healing... warlock rift is good, but having a class that could heal by shooting, or a super that could ressurect other players would be cool imo... perhaps have one tree focus on providing overshields as they deal damage.

    I have been thinking this through a strike. Do first usually there are four basic classes, a rouge/ranger like thing a healer, a caster, and a fighter. The biggest example is d&d with a cleric a fighter a mage and a rouge. We have the mage in the warlock, we have the titan which is a fighter, we have the hunter, the rouge (although I prefer to think hunters as rangers). We are missing our clerics so how do we find one. Well a cleric worships a god and receives power, we could have a guardian type that worships the traveler to gain power, but all guardians worship the traveler, I hear you salty commenters say, but when I mean worship, I mean literally worship like start churches and something saying may the light be with you. All the other classes still worship it but this class would be like a preist or almost a vex but bowing down to the light. Now we come to the guardian class ability’s. First it’s armor would look heavier than a hunter but lighter than a titans. I don’t know what it’s class symbol would be but if you really want to stick to the cleric motif it could be like a holy symbol necklace or something. The subclasses and ability’s would be weird, I don’t know what they would be but we would need to add healing in there something but also damage. The powers need to feel like they are ones of a cleric, warlocks study the light so there Powers’s manipulate it, hunters create weapons of light, somehow we need to make it feel like the class worships the light and gets powers from that Now there is the issue of the rule of three as I call it. There are three classes, three races and three subclasses with three elements. Now if we add a fourth class we open up to a whole new world of possibilities. We would add one new character Slot but the story would increase. Maybe we meet new ally’s who have been fighting the darkness that wants to join our struggle bringing new elements from afar. Maybe we make a alliance with the Fallen. I’ll post my ideas later

    • The Fallen; after the reawakening of the Traveler, it shows pity on some Fallen who have seen the error of their ways and gifts them with Light. These newly risen Eliksni then fight alongside our Guardians, seeking out other Fallen to bring them to the light and share the Traveler with humanity instead of fighting to steal it. But not all Fallen wish to do this, and therefore we still have Fallen enemies to fight.

        Using Borderlands 2 as the example, we have the Soldier (Titan), Siren (Warlock), and Assassin (Hunter). We need the (perfectly balanced) Gunzerker, a class with massive DPS potential and survivability

        • A tech or a healer. Not sure how much used they would get though, ghost does both. Take someone with more imagination than me to come up with something good.

            does forum troll count? Seems to be the most popular class on the forums. There's the #removeeververse tree - that gets you no live event funding and then there's the #entitled tree - that wants their money back after playing the game for three months. Neither are very effective in the raid.

            • As a someone that really only plays mmoRPGs various games that are "group" in mind games. I wish we had a lot more options in this game. It's got all the makings to be an awesome role playing game that could be similar to World of Warcraft only a shooter game. Everyone thought Tom Clancy's "The Division" was going to be an open world RPG shooter game but turned into.. what it is now. They stopped doing lore and quests and turned it into a huge open world pvp/grind fest game. We have a ton of those but don't have any rpg shooter games. I would sooo love a open world rpg game first person shooter. They have the lore, the back stories, the evil villains and the story isn't even finished yet. Why won't anyone make this type of game! ugh.

            • No. They just need to make hunter better to represents what the class should be about. Better weapon handling...ADS/reload/ready speed. Better stability when crouched. FASTER THAN OTHER CLASSES. More precision damage.

            • I’m thinking like a Commander-type guardian, with balanced strength, speed, and space-Magic’s, and their whole purpose is to help their teammates. Stuff like bubble shields, team damage buffs, super regen buffs, and maybe abilities that directly grant health. Would really shine in end-game content, like raid, nightfalls, Trials, etc.
