Before I get angry replies, I'll preface this by saying this is not meant to be a rage post or anything like that, it's meant to hopefully identify some things that I would say are flaws and help offer some constructive feedback
So the current state of IB rewards are, like everything else, grind rep and turn in for random rewards, get 10 and you get the emblem. For me personally, the emblem is the only thing I want, and any armor/weapons I get are a nice bonus. From what I can tell, it takes about 20 tokens to level up and earn a reward.
To get straight to the point, IB reward system does not really promote finishing the match, that is if you are going for maximum time efficiency, and not wanting to just play the game for what it is.
First consider tokens for finishing the match, 5 for a win, 2 for a loss, meaning that it takes 2.5 losses to equal a win. Then if we consider that most games go to time and not score, this makes quite a time difference. If you are losing by a significant margin at halftime, it is not worth your time to finish out the match (except to finish a challenge).
Next, we consider the challenges. This can vary from day to day based on what the challenges are, but it seems that many of them don't require you to finish the match. Take today's challenges for example, where only 1 required you to finish the match with a 1.0 or higher efficiency. The others were to get 5 kills with your Super and shut down another Super with your Super, neither requiring you to finish the match to get credit. Now the challenges aren't the core issue, because the real issue is the time-value from tokens you receive for finishing the match. On a side, note, the Super shutdown challenge made me even more prone to leave a losing match if the enemy team didn't have roaming Supers for me to hold my Super for, but that's a side issue as well.
I understand that not everyone is like me in allocating time as efficiently as possible, so if you enjoy playing PvP, by all means, continue the match, but I truly believe that the rewards could still be improved significantly for all. To alleviate the issues, I think there are a few ways to improve the rewards system that devs may consider (these probably have been mentioned by various others already so I take no credit for coming up with them)
-Increase losing tokens to 3 per match
-Chance to receive IB gear as match reward (winning or losing debateable)
-Allow players to select rewards with their tokens (provides a solid goal that a player may be more willing to grind for vs. RNG)
-Change emblem reward to a certain number of wins instead of "how many tokens can you grind out"
-Incur leaving penalties (Least favorable, improving a flawed reward system would be a better solution)
Now I understand that the point of IB is to be a middle-ground between regular Crucible and Trials, and that the point is to win, but in the interest of improving the game for everyone and preventing leaving, there has to be a compromise in the reward system because RNG tokens just aren't the best solution.
TL;DR If you are a person who doesn't like to waste their time, the current state of IB rewards in essence, promotes leaving matches

This is a great post. Unfortunately, I don't see how bungie could implement a penalty for leaving early until they fix the matchmaking. Solo's are paired with full teams, people are paired all over the globe = crap connection, NOTHING is considered in a match other than the fact that someone initiated the connection. The game would be so much better if they actually considered K/D, geographic location, and experience. I refuse to stay in a match where people are lagging/skipping all over the screen. I have of course reported the laggers/cheaters to bungie but I'm doubtful anything ever happened. I even posted a video of a lag switcher on here and was threatened by bungie with a ban. I also don't see how you can penalize folks for leaving early when you don't allow guardians to select their game mode. I refuse to play modes I don't have interest in. I tried to roll with Supremacy but it's so pointless in D2. I am aware they added a point for killing people but what's the point of the game mode??? Just ditch it and replace all supremacy matches with Clash.

I leave against a team of 4 in a clan every time and I will continue too. It’s actually fun when it’s 4 random vs 4 random people.

I would fix it two ways. First, if you quit, you can't go into another game before the 1st game ends. That's not too harsh a penalty and it makes you cool off if it was just a rage quit. 2nd I would up the drop rate for guns/armor and include 2 armor items types to be able to drop--this is straight from D1 I'm not sure why they stopped it.

If you’re talking about time management and efficiency, then leaving a game after 5 minutes gives a net earn of absolutely nothing, so that’s not very efficient. I mean, I get why it pisses you off. But if someone leaves because a match is a lost cause, then (a) I find the spot gets filled pretty quick, (b) if you’re so far behind, you’re not gonna catch up anyway, so it doesn’t make much of a difference if it’s 4v4 or 4v3. Regardless, it seems as though penalties for quitting are on the way judging by the TWaB a few weeks ago. Easy solution would be to make one challenge every day be “complete x number of crucible matches.

If you leave, you get no tokens. If you stay, you get tokens. Tokens are used for level ups to get more gear. Therefore your point is absolutely wrong and garbage. I felt like I needed to spell it out with how stupid this thread premise is.

People leaving sucks because then it's just me getting slapped around by four strangers because I refuse to roll over and die like a dog.

Isn't there a downside to quitting early? I'm not sure what it is for D2 but I remember Bungie having penalties for frequent quitting in their earlier games. Something like, quit X number of games in a 30 minutes, get blocked from Matchmaking for ten minutes. I'm old so that may not be something they've done since Reach.

Hey, we can't be talking common sense here on the forums. If it'd better the game it's clear that they can't include it. I'm just disappointed on how they didn't follow up on their word of improving and fixing Iron Banner after how poorly it was received when it launched on console the first time. They said they'd have goal marks, that you could trade in tokens for certain gear... yeah none of that... just an empty promise.

Bearbeitet von PJ5: 11/25/2017 9:17:13 PMI entered so many already in progress matches because the team was losing during iron banner. Ten games to cash out if you are on a losing team all the time (the case for me) for the small chance to get what you want is crazy. I can understand why people are pissed about quitters but I can also see why people quit (for the record I didn’t). The system should have been changed after the first iron banner.
