The trend is spreading and it sickens me. Nowadays, even big, multi-million dollar blockbuster superhero movies have characters in the exact same outfit for most of the movie. I get that CGI can be expensive and complicated, but it just feels lazy to me.
-
It'd be too much effort switching clothes every episode.

Bearbeitet von Cultmeister: 11/22/2017 11:04:58 PMTo be honest it’s the same thing in most visual media. Most of the time in films and TV series, characters don’t wear more than two sets of clothes, or don’t have more than two ‘styles’, unless specific plot points have them dress differently.

Instant association.
-
They have closets full of the same clothes like Superman.
-
Because the human mind likes familiarity and if something is off we're bond to dislike or feel uncomfortable.

Bearbeitet von Uncanny_Vale: 11/23/2017 4:48:23 AMI’m guessing it’s for ease of recognition and for establishing the characters. Unlike real humans animated characters all look pretty similar to each other in most cartoons. If you took away their distinctive outfit or hairstyle it would probably be difficult to tell who was who. Bart and Lisa Simpson look pretty similar when you take away their hair and clothes. If all the characters were wearing different clothes in every scene it would probably get confusing.
-
Too much work. As much as I like to talk shit about Bleach, one thing I will give it credit for is how early on in the series the characters wore different clothes. I think this stopped eventually, but regardless, it was the first time I had seen something like that in any form of animation.

Animators need to draw at least 40 mph and Drink Starbucks..So you can watch Family Guy in your underwear eating PB&J. Then they have to give you something to look foward to as people changing clothes in a cartoon or animation? I mean Batman had a Butler Alfred to wash his cloak and starch his tights.
-
It would take too much effort to change their wardrobe.
-
So they don’t have to frantically run around the house asking where their supersuit is
-
1. Creates familiarity 2. Makes animation easier 3. Makes merchandising easier
-
It makes it easier to draw live..
-
Laziness. Have a Scooby Snack.
-
Notice the same about Harry Potter, ace ventura, and James Bond
-
A) They stuff their closets with multiples of the same outfit for efficiency. B) Ms. Frizzle (The Magic Schoolbus) says "F*** that!" and wears a different outfit every episode.
-
Seriously Its because the work needed to give the same characters a different outfit every episode would take too much time Same thing with anime If they gave them a different costume every episode, the animators would have a hard time pumping out the episodes on schedule Watch Gintama everybody!!!
-
Because everything happens on the same day -duh
-
I actually considered buying a bunch of the same outfit in real life once
-
Easier to pick out an outfit as well as easier to sort through laundry.
-
Because they're cartoons, fictional characters that are recognizable by a certain look.
-
You don't need to wash them, just repaint them. They're clean though! :-)
-
Some might say lazy animators, but I disagree. It's important for a character's appearance to be consistent in order for that character to be recognizable to potential new fans. You mentioned South Park. I didn't start regularly watching the show until recently, after I had played fractured but whole. It was difficult to recognize some of the kids without their super hero costumes on.
-
It’s easy for them to remember and for fans to also remember
