Exotic Armor Review: The Stag -Never Say Die

Credit to my wife for putting up with the "ugly helmet" and testing this exotic alongside me. Credit to our little brother, Uber Cribley for dying on-command for us :P You've heard of the Ram -the lucifer helmet, the Warlock God helmet. Now, meet it's equally impressive cousin, the Stag. Aesthetically, this helmet looks creepy, funny, and a bit intimidating all at the same time. Sure, you have antlers that can be seen from a mile away, but gazing at the dark, soulless eyes of the mask does have a bit of an ominous feeling to it. Honestly, I like how this helmet looks. Looking closer at the helmet, you see that this one revolves completely around your Super -making it universally useful for all three subclasses. Inverse Shadow is a constant crowd favorite Infusion is a nice plus, too. As far as the stat boosters, you'll want as much Intellect as possible -for reasons which shall now be explained. The "Doe or Die" perk of The Stag helmet is actually incredibly useful and balanced. Once every life, when you are the last Guardian Standing, this helmet cuts tour typical super cooldown timer in HALF. You gain twice as much Super energy as normal. Sone players have also reported a smaller, but still noticeable boost which happens every other time after the first. Don't sound good enough? Try having Tier 5 Intellect with a Bad Juju. If you don't have your Super before your teammates are back on their feet, something went wrong. This effect is priceless for Raids and Nightfalls, where Self-Resurrection will still be extremely loved. With this helmet, a Sunsinger will always have a Self-Res at-the-ready in case their teammates go Leroy. On top of the increased Super Charge, you also have a 30% chance to spawn/respawn with an overshield that lasts about as long as a Sunsinger Flame Shield. So you have 2 ways to play this helmet -shield-spawning cannon fodder, or ultimate clutch player. Now, as impressive as this sounds for PvE, it will doubtless be even more impressive in Elimination. In fact, i can almost guarantee this Helmet to be the must-have for Trials of Osiris Warlocks (whenever ToO comes back...) a skilled Warlock (with a dumb team) might even be able to get one Super each round, if they managed to stretch out the fight long enough. So, overall, while this helmet might seem a bit.... ugly to some people, i personally love it. It is an extremely useful piece of clutch gear, which can very easily turn the tide in Strikes, Raids, or Elimination. With it's focus being more along the lines of "be a douche and leave your dead friends on the ground so you can get your super back" however, you might not want to abuse the exotic effect very much. Nevertheless, The Stag is not to be undermined or undervalued. Players who build properly, and synergize well with its exotic perk can easily become some of the most formidable opponents. A priceless teammate, and a nightmare to the enemy. Never say die, Guardians... or die and come back stronger -your choice.
