Not gonna lie
Destiny was a game with 3 years of DLC
Destiny 2 is not
Also some things you said were DLC or added in later for free
Just sayin

Shouldn't matter, Destiny 1 had trouble finding out what it wants to be, but it fixed with the DLCs along the way. Destiny 2 knows what it wants to be, Bungie could've taken feedback from the community and stepped forward from year 3 but they scrapped all of that and created this boring ass game for casuals

I agree it shouldn't matter. They spent 3+years figuring out what we wanted and getting pretty close to giving it to us. For some reason, (attracting casual players, "balance" or to appease the Thunder God) they ditched many of those changes and improvements for D2. I am always trying to shake this feeling that they have this poorly hidden plan to add these some of these features back into the game over time as a way to push DLC and "we are listening to our community!" I understand the premise, but you have(had?) a core audience that stuck with D1 for 3 years. They are your base and you build around them and their continued support. Entice new players along the way with marketing of the vanilla game and pushing the DLCs as perfect jumping off points (much like they did in D1.) I really can't see why they didn't give us the game feature filled and containing many of op's list of features that we all loved. If you start with that base game that so many of us wish we had, then you spend the bulk of your resources building new, well written, story driven content. They may think they have already done this, but personally and from what I am reading, that doesn't seem to be the case. Less than 2 months in and my friends and I rarely play (1 -2 times per week). They have moved on to Shadows of Mordor and I am giggling like a fool playing through The Fractured But Whole. We honestly planned to spend the bulk of our fall in D2, but not in this iteration. FIX IT! We want to spend our time in this world!
