I'll buy it if after a year it's gotten consistently solid reviews from players whose opinions I trust.
I was a D1 Day 1 player; no regrets. I have no interest in being Day 1 for D2. Once the initial shine wears off, I believe the game will be recognized as overwhelmingly underwhelming.

Yeah someone mentioned waiting a year for combo packs where you can get the game and all the dlc for the first year at a much lower price. I think I'm going to do that so I can get a ton of content all at once.

Serious question. (Despite our recent exchanges) With the rate games come out, do you think you'll really hold out that long to even 'maybe' consider D2? Even understanding what you felt about D1 and the desire for enough change and/or trusted reviews, it would still be enough to draw you in after a year? Just seems like a long time.

I'm just not in any rush to buy it, even with strong initial reviews. The smart money is in waiting. There is nothing to lose.

There is nothing to lose.
Waiting works "more gooder". Wink* ESO had a subscription model. I don't pay to play and haven't since I owned Phantasy Star Online from my still working Dreamcast back from 2000-2003. For ESO I waited, personal exp told me they'd remove things I disliked, they did, and now I play ESO like crazy. I'm not locked out of anything I pay for, they don't need to force replayability via nerfs, the content can stand on its own feet without removal/recycle/content-lockouts/bought-playlist-lockouts, AND they listened when community said "Have level matching for zones". Nothing I own keeps me from playing with friends in ESO and I've been gaming in it with friends I've been lucky enough to game with for over 20 years, and they don't remove content I bought for months to recycle it and sell it in future DLCS via playlist lockouts, with no caps on what I earn, IOW I can still access what I've bought and my money wasn't wasted in ESO, I can still play PSO and access everything I bought. Waiting to buy Destiny at 30fps, with less PVP players in PVP matches at 4v4, on non dedicated server support on peer to peer, with non-customizable subclass trees and a mute main character works just fine if it's considered as a purchase. Waiting is definitely better in my own opinion from personal experience. fistbump***

I'll probably get the new cod, or star wars.

So excited for the new Star Wars.

Understood. Just felt like within a year of waiting I'd already be enjoying something else that it would have to be a lot to drag me into something that I was disappointing with in the first place. In that situation I don't see many 'returning players' coming in that late. 6 months maybe but not a year.

If it's s good game, it's good game. I like to play good games.
-
I get it. Just a point as I said to Odin before. I feel sometimes that some people have taken such a hard stance on things, some things that are likely not to change, that you've literally given yourself no room to come back.
-
Not sure how anybody could say anything that would preclude them from coming back, if they choose to. Anyway... I've maintained all along that: 1. I hope D2 is epic; 2. I think it's going to be overwhelmingly underwhelming; and 3. I may buy it at a reduced price later, if the game turns-out to be good.
-
I know. It's my perception based on how adamant some people can be. In your case you say those things yet most of the things you hate about D2 will likely not change so it seems like you'd never get there. It seems counterintuitive. What am I missing?
-
You're not missing anything. I'm simply saying that I - and everybody else who sees what I see - reserve the right to buy the game at any time in the future. Who knows, once all of the pieces are in place, and some of the major issues - and there will be some MAJOR issues - are addressed, the game may be good. I doubt it, but anything's possible.
-
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I think, once the game is out, people will just realize that the game's been poorly marketed because Bungie was so obsessed about avoiding the marketing mistakes they made with D1.
-
Obviously, I think you're wrong. But, I hope you're right. I really do.
-
The game's weapon system is going to be polarizing. But---once you get past that and the marketing screw ups----I'm liking everything I'm seeing and hearing. I plan to play the PC beta to test drive the tuning changes. I'll hopefully have a better feel for things after that.

I'll keep an eye open for your reviews.

Bearbeitet von badbrain1: 8/26/2017 5:29:51 AMWell the best choice would probably rent the game only because reviews tend to be bias. Im not going to take the word of another person id rather view it myself. Only reason im buying d2 is because d1 was a great experience for me.
