It hasn't since they launched, so why would it now?
If anything it would probably compete with titles ESO or Anthem given their TPS and grindy nature.

Been playing both destiny and ESO since launch, destiny 1 is over for me now, has been for a few months, but ESO.... I mean the sheer size of the thing. There's so much to do, such a huge player base, yeah it has its faults, but all games do. And of course I'm on the D2 hype train, but the two are definitely in fierce competition for my gaming hours.

Not to mention eso's dlc schedule. More dlc than destiny, and yes they're smaller, but they're evenly spaced so you're not waiting too long for something new.
